|
|
Hi, first post as I'm new here. This seemed like the best place to ask this question since I've had little luck googling.
I just got an MS20M kit, and looking over the boards I noticed a little circuit for an AD633 multiplier chip (I believe commonly used for ring modulation), which wasn't included in the final production (not on mine anyhow).
I understand the original MS20 ring mod was not exactly ring modulation but an XOR which provides a similar effect, but without the cost of the multiplier chip. Is it possible then that Korg considered adding this multiplier as a feature of the new keyboardless version, but then changed their minds for some reason? Or could it be a potential mod for users (like the graciously marked board pins) who are technically inclined to work it out and add themselves?
I am just curious really, so any thoughts or info would be most welcome from all you knowledgable Korg users.

I've attempted to sketch out the circuit for anyone who may be interested.
