Havian 30 Duet Mode

Post by Odanster »

Many digital pianos now come with a duet mode that splits the keyboard into two relatively equal 44 key pianos, left and right of the middle being in the same octaves. The new Casio CGP700 has this feature always available on its main screen.

There is a Study with Teacher performance setting on page 4 of Acoustic Piano but it is not a true Duet mode.

Creating Duet Mode
Create a new Split Point
Tap the Split Tab, tap the keyboard image.
A message will appear to ‘Press a key to set’
Press F above middle C to change the Split point to middle of keyboard.
Make sure the Split light is on.
Change the instrument of Low to Grand Piano RX1 (the same as Upper1) unmute it.
Turn off Accomp and Memory

Press the Menu button
Tap Mixer Tuning
Tap the Volume/Pan Tab and set the Volume of Lower part to the same value as Upper1 (probably 116, which is the default)
Tap the Tuning Tab
Change Octave transpose for Lower to +2, then change Upper1 to -2 (If you want you could change all of the Upper areas to -2)

Saving settings as a Performance
Tap upper right corner arrow and select Write Performance.
Tap the T and type the name, eg Duet mode, tap OK.
Tap Select
Now choose where you want to save the settings. (I chose to keep it under the Acoustic Piano bank.)
Go to page 5, tap a blank space then press the Exit button, this will take you back to the previous page.
Tap OK then Yes and the performance will be written.

Press the Exit button to go back to the Main display.

Testing
Press the grey Grand Piano button to take the Havian back to normal mode.
To test hit the Acoustic Piano Performance button go to page 5 and select Duet mode to make sure it works.
