Do you have a user manual to hand? If not, there is one available at:
http://music.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/korg/d3200.html
It will be very useful in understanding how to drive this box of tricks.
The functions of the row of 16 channel buttons above the faders are determined by the horizontal and vertical rows of buttons above the right hand side of the 16 channel buttons. Channels 1 to 16 are selected when 1-16 is lit and 17 to 32 selected when 17-32 is lit.
When the Ch On button is lit, the 16 channel buttons can be used to enable or disable their respective channels, so this is basically a Mute function. The channel is muted if the button is not lit.
The Ch Select button, when lit, allows the 16 channel buttons to be used to detemine which channel will be selected in the Ch View , EQ/ATT, or Send tab pages on the LCD screen. Page 17 of the manual will hopefully make this clearer.
Hope that makes sense.

Tx...
Yes, it makes lots of sense.
I have used tascam 244 and br 600 before d3200 - for some
reason i find it harder to understand the logics of d3200 but
i begin to get into it...

Yes, I originally had a d888 which was easy peasy to use. Bought the d3200 for more channels and higher recording fidelity and added automation functions but just couldn't get into it. Don't know how to describe what that difficulty is as it has everything I want, but it's just that the interface seems really fiddly and squashy (for lack of a better word).
It does get easier the more you use it of course but I can't help but feel maybe a DAW software intereface would be the better way to go. I would have cringed at this suggestion years ago, as I'm very 'hands-on' and love raw analogue sounds etc but essentially you're getting the same thing with the d3200 as you would a DAW setup only with the smaller screen that is much harder to navigate.
Anyway I still think persistence is the key. With the right application of will-power almost any tool becomes useful. |
