Hi crew,

I have a Korg Trinity that I've used and loved for more than 15 years. However, I'm getting too many keyboards.

I have a Korg Kronos, so think I can let go of the main sounds in the Trinity. But, unless I'm missing something, I don't think I have replacements for some of the physical modeled sounds from the solo board like the trombone, the sax, and some of the wind-y sounding ones.

The Trinity is a big keyboard to keep for just those. I don't necessarily want a Prophecy. And I may not be able to part with the Trinity for sentimental reasons, but I thought I'd ask:

Do you know of any hardware synths that can produce sounds like the ones I mentioned? How about software synths?

Thanks guys and gals?
Mark

Hi,

Something like a Motif Rack ES with a PLG150-Vl or indeed even a VL70m will give you physical modelling (one of the best IMO) in a rack based form factor.

Arturia Brass is a physical modelling soft synth.

Check out this KVR thread for some other soft choices

Thanks Derek.

Isn't the Motif Rack ES sample-based?

The Arturia Brass looks interesting, though I'm not sure if it still is available for sale.

Hi, the Motif is indeed sample based, but you can fit up to two PLG synth cards to it.

Inside mine I have a PLG150-VL and a PLG150-AN.

The VL card is essentially a VL70m, and the AN card is (sort of) half an AN1x, and then of course you have the AWM2 in the Motif host to play with (which is a pretty reasonable ROMPLER.

It's worth checking out as an option. I also have VL in my EX5 and AN in my AN1x and EX5, so plenty of VL and AN choices in my studio! Yamaha VL is pretty impressive (I never got to hear the Korg equivalent you are talking about, so I cannot make comparisons.
