wow on the bad parts
I would like to see good isolators or fuses on the power buss as well a zeners too... that limits the voltage. maybe even a current limiter as well. korg sees these forums this would be a good thing to add for the new korg units to help protect the boards...
spend an extra 25 bucks in the power supply to protect...
I do it on the expensive break out boxes we build...
can save big bucks for sure.
some of the logic gear is pricy. _________________ my site klimaco.net

***bakirmn***!
O boy am I ever glad you had that problem with your KLM 2700 PCB!!
Shocked
I mean I'm not glad, but... I mean I have that same damn problem!!
And there is only one authorized Korg repair place in my city, Toronto, which as you might know is the BIGGEST city in this damn country...
And when I call that place nobody answers, I get an answering machine that doesn't make any identifying statement, just: "leave a message..."
In a robot voice no less!
Anyway, would you share any details you have that might help me with this repair? I confirmed that my KLM 2700 is sending the wrong voltage (12v instead of 5v!!!!) on one of the pins on the PCB. It fried the ISP1761BE chip on the KLM 2642 PCB, which has rendered the 8 touch pads on the front, as well as the keybed. Crying or Very sad
But alas, I have put a working KLM 2700 into the 'fried' M3 (I have two Korg M3s) and was able to restore a good amount of functionality!
Basically I know that repairing the KLM2700 is not going to restore 100% function to the 'fried' unit, but it will restore enough so that I can at least trigger the sounds and use karma and the sequencer and so on with an external midi controller. So it's either me spending $500 on a replacement KLM2642 & KLM2700 for 100% restoration, or it's me spending a whole lot less to repair the faulty KLM2700 for 70-90% restoration. I am thinking based on your $70 solution, that I would like to take the latter choice.
I'll note that I have sourced an ISP1761BE chip from Alibaba for $8 damn dollars! But when you see how many 'pin-leads' (Not sure what they're called) are coming off that IC, and how SMALL they are, I don't know about trying to replace that IC. So basically if I could fix that KLM 2700, I would be pretty pleased.
Would you lend me some advice on it?
I'LL BLOODY SHIP THE BLOODY THING DOWN UNDER IF I GOTS TOO!
Much appreciated!!!!!!!!!! _________________ Kawaii Organ Molester Since 2002 |

If you replace the ISP1761 you will get back working the usb's which is something good...
I have replaced it 3-4 times but its not easy at all.
Good luck with it!
Unfortunately we are far away so i don't think i can help you more..If there is something i can do ,send me a pm as i don't always see here (i don't have a m3 anymore)..!
Things you can't fix are the keybed and the pads as they include preprogrammed microcontrollers! |
