I have a d16xd and would like to know if it could be used to drive PA speakers as an amplifier. I have a feeling it can't

maybe not as an amplifier.. but with a decent pair of headphones you could make some
nice sounding mixes; should work as a 'standalone mixer' if you don't have a mixing console. _________________
