It's highly unlikely; I'm pretty careful. Also, I updated from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 with no issue, remember?

A virus could have happened since then though?

Let's assume that is not the case?

Did you try a brand new usb stick yet?

I doubt that I got a virus in the 20 minutes between the time I successfully upgraded from 3.02 to 3.03 and failed to upgrade from 3.03 to 3.04. I'm a retired software engineer.

USB sticks won't be here for two weeks at least. That's the price one pays to save money at Fry's. Wink

Meanwhile.....

Just a wild idea.
Try formatting the usb stick via the Computer Management / Storage / Disk Management.
(Be careful in selecting the the correct drive).

Or use an app similar to Eraser…….

Or write a large file that overwrites the the whole stick....followed by a format.
There is a drawback with doing multiple writes on usb sticks,it can shorten their lifespan…..in this case, there's nothing to loose in trying it out, perhaps.

My thinking is to attempt a "secure erase",which will clear the whole usb stick, eliminating any possible remnant data that could be lurking etc.
The imac has a provision for this...not sure about the pc,except what I've suggested.

Best Wishes.

Now that's an idea.

Actually, I have software that can secure erase and if it won't work with flash drives, I can use HxD to create a large file with a typical secure erase hex value and write it to the drive once or twice.

I'll let you know...

I had the same problem on my Kronos 73 with 3.0.2 OS running. Could not update to any newer firmware...

Change usb sticks, formated on kronos, all files on root folder of usb.

The solution was to reboot the kronos and leaving the usb stick connected all time at bootup. Now update works!

So plugin the usb memory before bootup and it works in my case.

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to revive after a year and I appreciate the help that was offered. Unfortunately, nothing worked. My Kronos is permanently stuck on version 3.0.3, has been for over a year now and I don't expect to ever update it again.

Thanks for your help, in any case.
