Will Korg Replace Kronos with a new flagship product anytime soon?
(I came to realise only recently that the first edition of Kronos was released in 2011! 6 years have passed !!) _________________ swing |

Is there a reason to other than for just the heck of it?
Afaik, it's also been 6 years that no competitor has yet come up with something to push korg for it. Sure eventually there will be a replacement, it's part of technical evolution, but when that happens only korg can tell.
There has not been much noise about it to ascertain that it's around the corner. _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content

google the forum for several discussions on this. Even on this page, about 30 topics down.
January NAMM use to be the venue for major product announcements.
I don't believe we have strong indicators for a new flagship in the next 30 days.
There are plenty of K2's at retail and I suspect they are selling well.
So it makes little business sense to distract from that.
FYI, no one can tell you with certainty about future product announcements. Employees and contractors sign NDA's. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I can't speak for the European price, but the Sweetwater price is unchanged from six months ago. _________________ Fred

I agree with the first reply to the OP, the Kronos simply has no direct competitor in hardware form (OK, OK, it's a computer under the hood, but what a package!)
I am speaking as somebody for whom the Kronos is my first foray into the world of Korg. I have mentioned a few times that I am a Yamaha stalwart who got bored stupid with AWM2, AWM2 and more AWM2 after Yamaha got burnt on poor sales (in comparison to the DX7) of iconic instruments such as the SY range, the EX5, AN1x, FS1r, etc.
So when I needed a new board in 2014 and Yamaha were celebrating their 40th anniversary of synths with a Motif XF in a white paint job (yawn), then I jumped ship. The Kronos might be 6 years old (even older if you count the OASYS lineage) but here is a synth/workstation that excited me again in the same way the EX5 did back in 1999. I have use for all nine sound engines, and that is what drew me to it. Long on may it continue! _________________ Derek Cook - Java Developer

You have already a good price, because 2999$ = 2999€ plus VAT in Europe
So, at 2600 (VAT INCLUDED) means only stock clearance _________________ ....... |

The announcement states "we're ready to take music to the next level..." There is a photo of two Kronos...lt's as though they are implying the two Kronos in this photo are the "current level"...we are now going to take you to the "next level".
It could be the next generation workstation? Hopefully it's not called Kronos if so.
You have 3 x 6 year lots of:
2005 Oasys
2011 Kronos
2017 ? ? ?
But why release this2 weeks before NAMM?

If the father of Kronos will appear in 2017, hop will be more up to date in term of processing/heating/start-up
Anything else will highly be welcome _________________ ....... |

Since its popular to remake old analog synths i wish Korg could remake some of there PS series. they would prob be expensive. BUT like the Arturia Matrix brute its half the price of a Moog Model D so its possible
Im going for the Matrixbrute when/if it arrives..it sounds and looks amazing and since my son finds the Kronos to damn complicated (he is 15) it might be easier to have 2+1 VCO and buttons to turn and twist just so he could learn the basics.

That wasn't the price I paid. I got the 88 key which cost more. But since we were looking at drops in the price of the 61 key, I thought I'd look it up.
The 88 key hasn't dropped in six months, either.
What does it mean if Europe is dumping stock while the United States isn't? _________________ Fred
