| since 4x styles won't load to a 3x , is there special software needed to convert styles from 4x to work in the 3x ?? |

Yes you would need special software (I am unaware of any) or convert them yourself via a sequencer (which is a long job).

The only way is this. Export the style from pa4x in "SMF format with markers, then import it in pa3x.
