Hi, this is my first post - please forgive any etiquette deficiencies.
I would like to use my old Korg 05R/W with Ableton Live 9 and wonder if there is a way to get program change messages to the module that can control both Bank and Program selection. The 05R/W has Banks A and G with Bank G including drum kits on Program Numbers 129 to 136. Ableton Live 9 Program Change setup requires Bank, Sub Bank and Program Numbers - each with the usual 128 number options. Is there a way to overcome the difference in program description in Ableton and the 05R/W and how do I access the Bank G programs in excess of 128?
I realise that the 05R/W is rather old, and this may be too much to ask of it, but it still sounds great and would make a nice addition to the setup.

Hi,

You can refer to the MIDI implementation in the manual of the Korg 05R/W:
https://www.korg.de/uploads/tx_softwarecenter/KORG_05RW_Handbuch_ENG.pdf.
P 112 shows a map on how to translate A-G banks and program numbers to the Bank MSB, Bank LSB and program number at MIDI level (all these are going from 0 to 127).

My bet is that for bank G, program 129 to 136, you need to set up Ableton as follows: bank: 63, sub bank: 1.
For program, it is a bit an ennoying mapping. Two examples: G129: 1, G130: 17.

I can not verify this, I just dropped a look at the manual. And apparently in Ableton you need to add 1 on each MIDI value (what I already did in the values above).

Have fun

Many thanks OpAmp. I will have a study of the translation map you have discovered and see if I can make it work!
