I am working on a cover tune in the SEQ, about 12 midi channels in use , so far.

I have a recorded Wav file of the isolated guitar track for the song. Its sitting in audio track 1.

I want to move the volume up and down, etc, and record those changes on Audio Track 1.

I tried using REC in the Audio Tack Mixer for audio track 1 - was not especially clever- all that did was blank out measures.

I suspect I need to insert some control ( CC ?) changes on the track. But I am not sure, seems like there is a better way

Thank you, fans of the SEQ Smile

The Correct term for this is record automation.
you need to arm a midi track and perhaps set its parameters to just record automation and then do a record pass moving your sliders etc for the audio track and it should record those events as sysex into the armed midi track.
I usually reserve midi track #16 for this.

That makes sense. Can you point me to the SEQ tab(s) on this, drop down menus on that ?

I fished around but I am just not finding the next step(s)

I googled record automation etc, and came up empty

Thanks !

It's the preference tab in the seq, play/rec > preference
It also has recording automation only for the Audio track, so just activate that and it should solve your problem.

Otherwise Here is How to do it the Midi way:
1: Disarm your Audio Track from recording (it's used for playback).
2: Arm a Midi track for Recording.
3: Start recording, and move the audio track faders or knobs etc.
4: All of these events should get recorded to the midi track.
5. if you look at midi event editor , it would show you the events as system exclusive messages, though there is not much you can do with them in there.

That worked beautifully, thanks !

I would have never figured that out , on my own. I appreciate your help on automating the wav file

You can do audio level automation directly on the audio tracks themselves

I like puzzles

How to, exactly ? Is that what the check box Source Direct Solo ( under preferences) is for ?

I much prefer to not give up a midi track for automation

Thanks

Hello Creg,
I am not at the moment in front of my Kronos.

It is so simple.
Wnen sequencing
you select "overdub" in the setting for the recording of your audio track
and under you select the case "automation only"

so you (re)record your actual audio track and just move the volume slider of your audio track all along the duration of you track.

and you continue to do this for your next audio tracks.

Each time I have done this for my songs : it works perfectly
And you can do great, very precise and cute mixing of each of your audio tracks.
You have my mail for any precise other questions about this.
