I realized that while this is so cool, I would need MIDI+Audio so therefore I need something like the Korg Plug Key.
It's still a cool interface to have for Mainstage or something. _________________ Korg Kronos, RD-88, Yamaha VL1, Deep Mind 6, Korg Kross, author of unrealBook for iPad. |

Korg plug key would defeat the purpose as it does not have spdif/optical out, only analog lineouts, that was one big selling point for me.
A USB midi input like Roland mc202 along with a USB hub is what I'd use if I need 5 pin din midi, otherwise just a hub for multiple USB devices (midi and audio) suffices _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content

There is a Youtube video where someone mods one to be a better quality DAC. |
Nice, I might as well just get another of these too.
I took a look inside, and the chips are all SMD
primary controller is TI2902, now if it could be swapped for TI2902B it could provide bi-directional ..Interesting.
Will try to look up the video you mentioned. |
I think he concluded that it was fairly tedious or complex for a small improvement? Maybe not.
The device also has a nice volume boost for the headphone output I found.
I run the SPDIF into my receiver.
For the iPad you can run spdif from the headphone output direct to the Kronos.
Just need the right cable.
Example:

Thx All,
Some correction required,
I was Wrong, Earlier, the Heaphone amp is not 4558 but rather 4556 which is much better anyways.
I have plenty to 4565 op-amps lying around, so thought of changing that, however observing under proper light and a magnifying lens it turned out as I said above 4556.
Replacing a SMD op amp is NBD (hardly a 5 min job), however in this case the op-amp is also glued (perhaps part of behringer manufacturing process). So I have left it alone.
The I/O op amps are 2740.
for anyone curious. _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content
