Is there a way to edit midi files once they have been downloaded to the PA4 or 900 via USB. And if there is, is it possible to save them in the song book fully edited. Similar to editing styles and saving them to songbook. I find nothing in the manuals that address this. Thanks _________________ PA4X & PA900

Hi Chuck.
I'm not sure how is in Pa4x, but in Pa600 you can edit Midi.
Midi as a small size file is always loaded to Memory and plays from there, even on PC, means you can edit midi anytime, even when play it.
All Midi files is store on HHD or other devices, which are visible after you connect to PC via USB and on Korg in Media/USB enable connection.
As SongBook, you should be fine, longest you don't change Midi File Name, SongBook is still point to file even you edited. _________________ Nemik

I don't know about note editing, but you can certainly edit a midi file by pressing the RECORD/EDIT button and going into record mode. From there you can either record over a track, add to a track, change instruments, and I think filter midi events. Once complete, click on the menu in the upper right top of the display and write the midi file to save it, then press the EXIT menu option. to exit out of record/edit mode. _________________ Pa5x, Yamaha Genos, ForeScore |

You guys are great. I'm 76 yrs old now and have been playing for 55 years. Problem is, I've never been good about understanding midi and how it works. This will help, I hope. I'll let you know soon. Again thanks and keep playing music. Chuck, USA, Ohio. _________________ PA4X & PA900

Just chiming in here as a 3x owner. There are two different aspects to editing.
Most basic editing like changing instruments, changing volumes, muting and tempo can be done from the main mixing screen after loading the file in Sequencer mode.
More intensive editing options are available if you press the menu button where you can copy, paste, change notes, note duration, volume, fade out etc.
Some midi files have things like program change events or volume changes throughout the midi so that simple changes from the top menu don't stick. So you have to find them and change them in Event Edit. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

I tried KBRKR advice and the first thing I noticed that there is no Record/Edit button on the 900 or the 600 (Record only). I think what Reuben is suggesting is that I connect my computer to the 900 and edit from the computer. I was hoping I could just edit the midi file the same way I do the styles. I'm still trying. _________________ PA4X & PA900

No computer necessary. Go to Sequencer Mode. Touch New Song and navigate to your midi file, and select.
From here you can do basic editing like swap instruments, change volumes or mute.
For more detailed editing press Menu button and choose either Edit Event or Song Edit - depending on what you are trying to do.
Under Edit Event you can edit details of each and every note, Instrument change etc.. Say there is one incorrect note you can fix it here.
Song Edit has broader options like copy paste, fade etc.
Its not as easy as a Daw Program on PC but I use it all the time for basic editing.
Here's a few midis that I've worked on complete with Lyrics and Chords that will appear on your screen if you press the Lyrics button you might like to try

I've got hundreds so might have some more you may be interested in.
Cheers,

To bad there is no piano roll... (well atleast not to my knowledge)
Personally i think the next generation of arrangers should have advanced edditing feature.. or atleast an ipad app that allows for this kind of edditing from onboard files.. hell even an external screen supporting this would work like a charm... _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Hi John,
They are very good and what I am looking for. Would you consider selling me some others?

John, nice midi's! I like the work you put in on the lyrics and chord naming. I can see how advantageous this all would be when playing them live. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=807494

I liked all of your songs Eric. You expertly changed moods, in fact "Walking With Dinosaurs" made me feel I was right there with them in a primeval forest.
Thanks

Actually midies that are created a long time ago,semi-proffesional etc, they sound really bad,try to use professional midi files or edit them through a daw ,cause in most cases drummapping is not the same, and even if it sounds right, you will always miss all the pontetials that your pa4x or other model has,for example: You are not going to get the Guitars' Rx notes of any midi in most cases....or the Dnc 's of some sounds....etc...it's like you have a Ferrari and you take it to race with your Fiat's tires.... _________________
