Hi. Another request for help. I have adjusted the option for global panel backlight and nothing seems to have changed. Am I missing something?

I tried it briefly and I couldn't tell it did anything either. _________________ DonM |

I use this occasionally and it works fine on my keyboard - off/soft/medium/high - this relates to the "buttons & indicators" backlight - it is a great way to check that all LED buttons and indicators actually light up.
(It is not a generic whole panel single backlight - just works on all the LEDs - great for playing in a dark corner)
Cheers

Thanks Pete. Mine probably works fine. I wasn't aware of what it was supposed to do so didn't notice, I'm sure. _________________ DonM |

Aha, So it seems I'm not the only one relegated to dark corners. Customers are always asking " Is this OK or is it too dark?" My automatic response has become, "Oh no, this is OK. I do some of my best work in total darkness" BTW, a heartfelt thanks to you and others for all your contributions here. In the past I've owned a Pa50, PA1X, PA2x, and now a 3X and the new 4X. Without this resource, I'm sure I'd have more grey hair and less of it!
Thank you, thank you!

Korg needs to improve this option "panel back-light" in their future Pa Arrangers, since they are designed for live performance, and most of the time we have to perform in a bad lighting condition.
For who are interested, this is a copy/past of my previous post regarding panel back-light in GEM WK8 made in 1999:
This is a post from Thu Aug 11, 2016:

I tried it and set it to Strong, It's not bad, it gives you small light in the buttons but not practical as GEM WK8.
In GEM WK8 the backlit allowed you to see easily the name of different buttons like Styles, Performance, Stop, Start, Ending, Tempo, etc... in low lighting conditions.
Thanks anyway for your info.
I added a screen shot of backlit panel of GEM WK8 made in 1999:

I have a SK76 and it was a great machine for it's day. I still have it, but it is hard to find parts for it. The sliders are flakey. All the switches work perfect, which I can't say for all the Korg devices I've owned, and I've owned more than a few. And the automatic backlighting still works.
But overall technology has advanced a great amount and the Pa4x shows that. Companies have a style about them on what they focus on. Korg seems to focus on the sound. With the Kronos they have sought to improve on the interface and make it easier to make changes to the sounds. With the Oasys, even with it's large screen, because of it's complexity and ability to do so much, it was very difficult to find all that was needed to create and modify. If I wanted to just add an effect, there were many pages involved that had to be modified to turn on and modify an effect. I learned a lot about sound design with that keyboard.
But Korg's keyboard layout and style (looks) never included backlighting. I don't think they like the look. _________________ Pa4x, Oasys 76, K2000, PC3K7, Montage 8, Pa5x |
