Hello all, I recently was fortunate enough to find a second hand E2 for relatively cheap. (the orig grey E2) I of course picked it up and have been having a great time figuring out this latest electribe incarnation.

HOWEVER, I was hoping to get the latest firmware onto it but for the life of me cannot figure out how.

I get that I'm supposed to download the files (first 1.19, upgrade, and then upgrade to 2.02) what I don't understand is how I'm supposed to get the files onto the SDHC card.

when I hook the unit up via USB nothing happens on my computer (other than the confirmation that midi is enabled and functional, great).

I do not have a slot in the computer for SDHC cards so I cannot transfer directly to it. I have tried putting the card into my camera and transferring it that way but since the file type is odd (relative to the camera) it won't let me save the file to the card.
after that I have no other options except using the USB in the electribe to transfer that way which, again does not show up as a drive on my computer when I plug it in. I only get a msg saying that MIDI is functional (great but not what I needed)

so the long and the short of it is. . . how do I get the tribe to show up as a drive? is it even supposed to?

ultimate goal: get the firmware files onto my SDHC card.

thanks for reading, if there is other info I can provide to help let me know.

P.S. how do I find out what firmware is currently installed?

I don't think it does show up as a drive on your PC. If you don't have a card reader built into your PC then you'll have to get an SDCH-USB adaptor. That's what I use. You can pick them up pretty cheap. Don't forget to format your SD card in your electribe too.

Thanks for the quick response steeple.

That is kinda annoying, I mean it has a USB port and a card slot why not just make it possible to transfer data via USB cable.

oh well can't have it all I suppose.

I got a card reader /usb adapter from my local £1 shop. Supercheap Chinese plastic.
Hasn't broke of in the socket just yet. (which does happen with insanely cheap).

thanks for all the responses everyone.
next on the list is a card reader.

still though, seems so silly that this device doesn't show up as a drive over USB. I mean all the components are there why omit that functionality?

To any one with more tech savy than I have: is this something that might be altered via a firmware upgrade? or is this a limitation in the hardware itself?

not a HUGE deal I suppose I'm having a lot of fun creating with it so at least there is that.

happy week ahead to everyone.
