Just bought a minilogue-my first synth-and I love it, but I have a question.

It seems mine will only drive one speaker.

If I hook up the speakers to another device, such as my tablet, I get sound from both speakers.

If I hook up headphones to the headphone jack I hear sound in both ears.

But with the speakers hooked up to the regular output jack, I get sound from only one speaker.

So either there's a setting I'm misssing (this is my first ever synthesizer) or there's something wrong with this unit.

Or?

TIA.

The Minilogue has two audio outputs: the main output and the headphones output. The main output is mono and uses a standard mono 1/4" jack (TS), while the headphones output uses a stereo 1/4" jack (TRS). If you are trying to use a TRS lead to connect to the main output and then into a stereo socket, it will seem as though half the signal is missing as only one channel will be receiving anything. You can buy mono->stereo leads (TS->TRS) if you only have a stereo input on your listening device, or you can plug into the headphones jack, which is probably a better solution. If you are using a mixer, better idea to use a mono lead (like a guitar lead) from the main output into a line input on the mixer.

I remember getting my first synth polysynth and plugging it into my dad's hifi system. Good job he had some very decent speakers as I was sure I was going to rip them apart with some of the oscillator beating I was creating by playing sub-bass chords, heheh.

Thank you so very much for your highly informative, practical, and useful reply.

I must offer in my defense that the manual states the output from the headphone jack is the same as that from the output jack.

Nevertheless, following your fine reply and plugging my powered speaker setup into the headphone jack, I get what I expected from the output jack.

Many thanks.
