TL;DR: the MIDI adapter that came with your Electribe 2 is unique. You can get a replacement only from Korg's official parts supplier Partsisparts.com for about $5USD.
Longer version. That 3.5mm -> MIDI adapter for the E2/ES2 isn't a generic part. If you lose it, you might be tempted to buy the Kenton one on Amazon, but that won't work correctly. As a couple people here pointed out in another thread, Korg has wired these adapters in a non-standard way, and in particular if you want to run your E2 into a passive MIDI Thru box like the MIDI Solutions Quadra Thru, you'll need a MIDI adapter that actually carries power from the E2. I can verify that the partsisparts.com adapter I linked above does power the Quadra Thru. Yay!
If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could certainly make your own, though you'll probably want to open yours up to make sure you wire it in the "correct" Korg way.
Or, they're $5USD at the link above. I bought four! |

The only "standard" for a MIDI cable is 5 pin DIN, using any other connector is non standard. So the Korg miniplug to DIN is non standard and so is the Kenton one and the Arturia one. This is why they get so much hate....especially when the device has enough room for the standard connector. Now you have little adapters to keep track of, some of which are wired different.
Or as someone once told me, " that's the great thing about standards, there are so many of them!"
END RANT
thanks for listening... |

is there a chance you know how to wire them so that they work with the electribe? i have a regular (meaning: not the korg one) midi-jack cable and i want to do some hardcore soldering tonite, but before i start, it should be useful to know what goes where :c |

I purchased a used electribe that was missing the midi breakout cables. They are the same midi cables that come with the Korg SQ1 sequencer. In Canada I can order this part at Long & McQuade which I did. The adapters worked flawlessly with my electribe 2. |

I filled out the missing parts form on the Korg UK website, next day they contact me to call them confirm the payment and I'm getting the cable within 3 work days, about 11GBP shipped. Great! |
