I am looking for a foot controller to use for the variations and fills on the pa 300 I have tried to use the korg kontroler #1 which I intended to convert to a foot pedal but it will not power up when plugged in to the usb port on the keyboard its a shame Korg did not include a port for the EC5 on the keyboard any help would be appreciated _________________ john8thecake |

Did you ever use this ROLLS RFX MIDIBUDDY MIDI CONTROLLER ?
I'm assuming if somebody ask, we should help, but base on experience or reliable source.
before you buy read manual if this is what works for you.

Yea, I was just going on a post of yours where you state:
I follow his advice and tested all controls.
This is what I find:
Program Change:
CTR#64 = STS1
CTR#65 = STS2
CTR#66 = STS3
CTR#67 = STS4
CTR#80 = Intro 1
CTR#81 = Intro 2
CTR#82 = Intro 3
CTR#83 = VAR 1
CTR#84 = VAR 2
CTR#85 = VAR 3
CTR#86 = VAR 4
CTR#87 = Fill 1
CTR#88 = Fill 2
CTR#89 = Fill 3
CTR#90 = Fill 4
CTR#91 = Break
CTR#92 = Ending 1
CTR#93 = Ending 2
CTR#94 = Ending 3
CTR#95 = Fade In/Out
CTR#96 = STS Mode
CTR#97 = Auto Fill
CTR#98 = Memory
CTR#100 = Manual Bass
CTR#101 = Tempo Lock
CTR#103 = Start/Stop
Midi Buddy is made to put out program changes, so it should work.
Getting involved with old hardware will take work to get it working though. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |

except according to manual
Quote: | OPERATION
The MP128 follows MIDI standard protocol, and will change programs on any
MIDI controllable device. The controlled device and the MP128 must be on the
same MIDI channel (see chart - next page), or the device should be on an "omni"
channel.
The unit sends up to ten different program changes, in twelves different banks.
Bank 0 sends program changes 1 - 9 (there is no program change 0), bank 1
sends program changes 10 - 19, bank 2 sends program changes 20 - 29, etc.
The LED display on the MIDIBUDDY shows the MIDI program number (0 - 127,
or 1 - 128 depending on the setting of DIP switch # 6).
As the 10s Up or Down are scrolled through, the unit increments or decrements
through banks 0 through 120. The ones digit is selected by switches 0 - 9. MIDI
data is sent only when a 1 - 9 button is selected except as described below
.
The display will show a "-" in the right hand digit when no MIDI information is
sent,or when a 10's UP or DOWN button is pressed.
For example; to send program 47, press the 10s UP or 10s DOWN until the display reads "4-" then press the 7 button. When the 7 button is pressed, program
47 is sent out and the number is displayed by the LED readout. |
if you wanna send PC 87 (Fill1), you need set bank 8 and press button 7, the if you wanna break (PC 91) you need change bank for 9 and button 1,....good luck with dialing numbers using feet while you playing and keeping eyes on keyboard.
P.S. I wish to see someone be available do this. _________________ Nemik

I was looking for this usb pedal I saw some time back where you can set it to anything you want, couldn't find it but there are a lot of pedals out there that could do the job.
Or you could get a regular midi footswitch like the yamaha ones and run it through a Midi Solutions box that will change anything to anything. There's also software to do that (bome) but doesn't look like he's working with a computer.
Time, money, and effort should be all it takes. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |

Hello.
The pa300 doesn't have a midi input port so to do anything like this the user should carry a pc and a usb-midi interface to do the conversion... |

Thanks for the replies would the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller be able to send the program changes if i convert the midi to usb with a straight forward conversion lead? I have been in touch with korg support but they say the midi chages can only be chaged by a tablet or pc i find that hard to believe or is it that the pa 300 can only connect to the pc once the drivers are installed? If this is the case could i use a Raspberry P or adreno board to interface? _________________ john8thecake |

You're talking about a cable?
No, remember these are two different protocols and need on the fly conversion to link them up.
They call the cheap things on ebay midi cable but it's a midi interface that's fit into a cable.
Like support says, needs a computer, I think that's what Raspberry P or adreno board is right?
One of the reasons I went for the PA600 was the legacy midi ports.
I like them a lot better because you don't have to restart your DAW application when you add a device like you do with USB. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |

Ok so simply converting to din to usb wont work.that makes sense thanks i will stop searching for a midi foot pedal and concentrate on building a Adriano system. Just out of interest the only CC# i am trying to send are 80 to 94 which are the intro1-3 variation 1-4 and drum fills etc. I downloaded a midi commander for my Android pad last night just to make sure the switching would work ok, i am please to say it worked first time. There are some designs for the Adriano midi boards on the net I will try thanks for the help
Regards

Ya, you need to be sending program change messages not CC's but most things that can do one can do the other.
Have you thought about a DAW setup, integrating the two then you would have midi capabilities too. Lot of other benefits, some use a laptop and DAW software in a live performance. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |
