Triton Tips

Hi,<br><br>There is now a lot of people here with Tritons, that have been using them for a long time. So I figured it might be interesting to tap this pool of experience, and ask if people could share their one most invaluable tip about using the Triton, that we could all maybe learn something from and live better and fuller Triton lives <br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Daz.<br><br><br><br>

Good idea.<br><br>Here’s one for cleaning the Triton.<br><br>I’ve been doing this on my Trinity for 7 or 8 years at this point, my Triton Classic also got the same treatment, and now my Triton Studio.<br><br>Simply clean the Triton with a few Johnson’s Baby wipes. Then wipe the area you cleaned with a dry towel.<br><br>Using this method you will be able to remove really bad stains.<br><br>Sharp. <br>

In Sequencer mode the 'COMPARE' button gives you a very handy 'Undo'/'Redo' facility when editing events.<br><br>Daz.

Never 'blindly' load a PCG file. Instead select it and click the 'Open' button on the touchscreen to navigate into it, and see the contents. This will give you an idea of what will be overwritten when you load that file. This is really important if the PCG file you've received contains Global settings from someone elses machine, and may cause a great deal of confusion by changing your MIDI setup, arps, or pedal settings. If there is stuff in there you're not sure about save a PCG file containing all your current setup first.<br><br>Daz.<br><br>

If like me you use the sequencer mode for multitimbral MIDI sequencing using an external sequencer then you can use the "Save Template Song" setting to save your setup as you go, rather than continually going to disk mode and saving to floppy. Really handy, and very quick.<br><br>Daz.

In Sampling mode if you have a multi sample that consists of many samples, but you find that one is slightly off… well rather than trying to work out exactly which one it is.<br><br>Press the ENTER button followed the notes that sounds off.<br>The Triton will automatically display the correct sample on the screen.<br><br><br>This trick also applies nearly all the NOTE related features in Sampling mode.<br>For example.. If you have a C3 being displayed as the root sample, but you know it’s a G2. Well rather than using the jog dial, simply press ENTER followed by G2. Job done.  ;D<br><br>Sharp. <br>

If your looking for a great effect that can take a dull MONO sound and turn it into a great Stereo sound. <br><br>Go to the IFX page of any mode, and use effect 39.<br>

Use shortcut keys to navigate around the Tritons various pages and menus at top speed.<br><br>For example if you're in sequencer mode  you can press the MENU button and you'll see all the pages P0 through P9 listed. You could just touch one of the options to jump to that page, but its quicker to press the MENU button and the number button corresponding to the page you want to go to.<br><br>For example pressing [MENU] and [5] takes you to the P5:Track Edit page from wherever you happen to be in Sequencer mode.<br><br>Similarly you can access options in the page menu (that thing at the top right of each page) using the ENTER key and a number key. For example on the P5:Track Edit page you can access the Event Edit option by pressing [ENTER] and [2]. Each menu option is accessed by pressing Enter and a numeric key corresponding to the item's position in the menu. The first option being 0, the second being 1, and so on.<br><br>Learning a few of these key strokes can really speed things up when you're busy creating a piece.<br><br>Daz.

Almost all of the factory Programs and Combis make serious use of the Master EQ on the Master FX page -  boosting the Low and High ranges in ways that would normally be frowned upon when mixing <br><br>If your own hand crafted Combis, Programs or Songs in sequencer mode seem a bit weak in comparison try boosting those Master EQ's.<br><br>Take a look through some of the factory presets to see how extensively this technique is used.<br><br>Daz.

Its also a good idea IMO to include various controller settings in a basic template with a couple of basic IFX settings:<br><br>EG.<br>RT1 set to volume.<br>RT2 set to pan.<br><br>MFX 1: Stereo Chorus<br>MFX 2: Hall Reverb.<br><br>RT3 set to SRC AMP for MFX 1<br>RT4 set to SRC AMP M4+ for MFX 2.<br><br>And of course, setting a basic 70% on all IFX routings including the IFX Page - but leaving the IFX off and unchecked.<br><br>SW set to octave up and octave down.<br><br>Also going thru the pitch bend Track Para settings and setting an initial value of +2 for pitch bends.....<br>basically setting up a template the way you want.<br>Its well worth the effort, to set up a couple of templates.<br>EG a basic multi-tracker, a Multitrack REC sesson, a 4x4 part single voice - midi assigned template. <br><br>Peace<br>Ausser<br><br>NB: Save your templates as a .sng file just in case.<br>

In Global Mode, System Preferences there is a Parameter called <br>"Power On Mode". It defaults to "Reset" which is why your Triton always wakes up on Combi A000. Set it to memorize and it will always wake up on the last screen/mode that you were in when you shut down.<br><br>I've got a million of 'em...<br><br> <br><br>Jerry
