Evening All,

So, I'm on the fence about picking up an Electribe 2 sampler - and have the following questions to clarify;

1) After importing my own one-shot samples, I take it I can play them chromatically / tune them by pitch - but is it possible to play a one shot imported sample as a chord in the chord mode? Does the electribe sound engine support this?
2) In terms of drum/break chopping - if I import a sample at XX tempo, can I copy this to another pad and change the start / end / loop points to allow me to chop up my own breaks manually and then re-sequence?
3) General poly limit? From watching a large amount of videos, I've seen people talk of 4 note polyphony for parts - how many 4 part polyphony parts could I programme in a pattern before I got into voice-stealing?
4) Linking - I have a Korg Monologue - so would be great to hook via midi and sync cable - no problem - then I'd run the audio in from the Monologue to the Electribe to hear and also sample from = are there any other tips / things to know?

Cheers,

TGD

It's kind of weird machine but not in a bad way, it's quite a powerful tool. The fact that it runs on batteries is a +1 for me, so I can move around the studio midi sequencing and recording synths.. or head to the mountains in solitude.

The keyboard/Chord function is fantastic, it sounds really great and is fun to play. They both work and offer scale modes to switch between as well as a step edit function for sequences (to re-pitch any step). I find it way more intuitive to play chromatically than say an mpc. It reminds me of vintage keyboard samplers, like a hifi Emulator II (or lofi if you resample stuff, of course).

Chopping works, start/end & loop points plus sample slicing, I think you will find that extra feature handy.

Each part can be assigned poly 1, poly 2, mono 1, mono 2. While it is in fact somewhat limited polyphony, the re-sampling function is the real bread and butter here. Whatever is limited in parts can then be resampled\freed up.

Like I said, it's great for sequencing ext synths too! Only tips I can think of is for sample management, you will need an sd card and optionally software on the computer to help import/export. When you sample in, and save that sample, unless you export it back to the sd card, it will be lost after the unit is shut down. I find this kind of tricky but the more I get use to it the more I love the electribe.

Give it a shot.
