Hi
I have just purchased a pair of Beolab 6000 speakers to pair with my 4X.
I know that the leads that I require are 1/4 inch jacks at KB end and phono plugs on the Beo speakers BUT -
On the KB what pair of audio output sockets do I use left and right OR 1 and 2?
Also do I need to buy stereo leads and plugs or mono? and what quality?
Grateful for advice
Thanks

Hi Bob
You should use left and right, those are the main output.
1 and 2 output have to be assign in global mode.

Great, that’s clear enough but, do I need 2x mono or 2x stereo cables and plugs and what sort of quality would be appropriate?
Thanks

Hi Bob
Ideally, get a pair of good quality balanced cables - the PA4X output ports are balanced.
These look like stereo cables - e.g. these at StoreDj https://www.storedj.com.au/hosa-hss-005-rean-1-4-trs-to-same-pro-balanced-interconnect-cable-5ft
Cheers

If the Beolabs speakers have RCA inputs, balanced cables are NOT the way to go. RCA's are used for unbalanced signals only (only two connectors).
1/4" TS jacks at the keyboard end, RCA at the other. A very easy to find cable (or use 1/4" TS at both ends and use a converter at the RCA end). |

Good point!!! I wasn't familiar with these speakers and it does look like they are RCA
Cheers

Interesting! I know about the noise reduction in the balanced cables.
I was wondering if you get a better volume/audio then unbalanced cables
I've used both cables but I never pay attention to it?

Help!!
Thanks for all the good advice everyone.
Speakers and cables now purchased, all installed to Left and Right outputs and Paas speaker bar detached. Confirmed that the speakers have power but - Problem - no sound whatsoever!!
Do I have to make some Global adjustments? I have looked but can’t see where.....I will check to see if the manual helps but in the meantime advice much appreciated....
Thanks

Hi JP
I cannot say that I've ever noticed a difference other than noise reduction (in my case, noise removal !!!) - audio and volume seem much the same but it might also depend on the sound gear too (really not sure).
Cheers

If source and desination devices are in the same Z-family (High-Z / Low-Z) then sound quality/phase / harmonic distrortion
and gain , will remain the same as produced at source device as concerning transfered main sound signal.
Balanced Low Z line has a great advantage only in external noise cancellation like net ham / RF demodulation interference
(radio transmitters / cellphones) , that are eliminated when applied equally at 2 balanced lines and for that reason its highly
recommended for line cables over 3 meters or in live clubs / Halls with intensive swithing interference of Music performance
lights , or even at bad net grounding systems. _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

Sorry, it’s me again
I’m not still entirely satisfied because of a nasty hum. However, on checking the cheapish Stagg connector leads (1/4 inch to Phono) that I bought, I realise now that they are mono leads and not stereo.
Can someone please re-confirm that I need stereo leads or will mono be ok?
Thanks again

It's always mentioned in previous posts :
"use 1/4" TS at both ends and use a converter at the RCA end"
Purchase a good quality mono 1/4" TS , and separately purchase 2 converters 1/4 TS female to RCA male and
not the cheap cables of TS to RCA , else you won't get rid of net hum of 50/60 Hz ! _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer
