Hello, everyone!
At a local forum we face clash of opinions over the matter of whether Master EQ settings have an influence on the sound being recorded with buit-in MP3 recorder.
My own PA1000 ignores EQ settings in this mode while an user of PA700 asserts that his arranger applies Master EQ settings to the recorded sound.
Please, share your experience. |

At the end of the audio path of Pa1000 there are a Limiter and Master EQ, used to process both Sounds and MP3 Songs.
MP3 files are not affected by the Limiter, since they are usually already ‘produced’, and do not need to pass through the Limiter again, but Master EQ - positioned at the end of the signal chain, just before the audio outputs - is a full spectrum frequency equalization (also affect MP3MP3, but not separately). _________________ kind regards

As i wrote in an initial message my PA1000 totally ignores Master EQ status(on/off) and settings, even extreme ones. Recorded MP3s sound as have bypassed EQ module.

It doesn't look clear that the input of PA's MP3 recording module is the end of the audio path. I think that the signal being recorded is taken before Master EQ is applied. |

You are right - signal being recorded is taken before Master EQ.
Excuse my faulty information - this should only apply to PLAYING mp3 files.
If you are RECORDING into an MP3 song (sing, play, keyboard, gitar, styles, midi, mp3, kaoss-effects) its all recorded with the internal mp3-recorder before it goes through Limiter and Master EQ applied at end of the audio path of Pa1000.
As Master EQ of Pa100 mainly is made for audio outputs it will also be more sensible - and the reason - that this stage will not be transmitted before the recording of an MP3 file.
Editing the dynamics of single signal sources (sing, play, keyboard, guitar, styles, midi, MP3, Kaoss-effects) seems better done before recording an MP3 file, but not done with a full spectrum frequency equalization for all signal sources commonly in record mode. _________________ kind regards

Thanks for your opinion, i do agree that Korg's approach to discussed matter is quite correct. If master EQ settings applied to the signal being recorded with built MP3 recorder then PA users would have had "double equalization" effect in case recorded MP3s played back on Korg PA in "Song Play" mode.

I think this is not right! This is another shortcoming of Korg PA. Many write the final work in Korg. As a result, they hear one and get another! This is fundamentally wrong! Korg should give a choice to record with the equalizer or not. Hmm. Once again, I am disappointed! |

Yes, selectable EQ-activity-in-record-mode option would be better, but i think Korg reserved it for workstation-class devices. |
