The MODX6 is a nice sounding board "For the price" but it's not a Kronos. The Kronos seems more preset ready with multiple layers, karma, beats ect ect ect, aka noob home user friendly. As the Montage / MODX makes you work for it. Its taking me a very short time to understand the interface and realize how powerful this little cheap board can be. My only real complaint is the Keybed just isn't high quality. I can think back as this Keybed is inferior to every flagship board I've ever owned. But it's still better than the King Korg or Krome. At least the hinge depresses so you can push down the key at normal pianist form. Verses the Krome makes you play on the tips of the key because the full key doesn't depress.

Once hooked to my Kali 6 monitors it really opened my ears to how rich the sound is. There is so much going on in those motion sequences. I'm more impressed with each 5 sec boot. You know I catch myself playing it while my Kronos 2 minute boot time and then some how I forget to even touch the Kronos. Lol it's happened many times.

The Kronos competitor from Yamaha is the Montage.

This MODX blows the Korg Krome out of the water.

You can not compare apples to pears, can you?

That is quiet a bold statement.

I've heard awesome sound design from keyboardist going hands on on the Krome.

Dan Tesco sounds are one of the many to make the Krome sounds great what it can do. But its just as you've said comparing apple's and pears between keyboardist doing sound programming just makes the difference.

Layering sounds is easy on the Montage/MODX and Kronosd to what I can tell from the latest firmware update with both keyboards. It makes it easy but you still have to do additional in depth programming to make the sound yours.

Hi --

Every now and again, I take on a project worth writing up. I just finished making a few pipe organ waveforms and voices for MODX. Here are the links:

Hope you find this info helpful -- pj
