Hey there,

I just got the new Electribe Sampler and it is super rad so far. Though comparing it against units like a SP-505, it seems to be lacking at least one key feature...

When playing a sample on a pad, I can't seem to change the "launch mode", which is to say I want to play it as a gate or loop or trigger.

Gate: I press down the pad, the sound plays and stops (cuts off abruptly) when I let go of the pad
Trigger: I press down the pad, let go and the sound plays through its length
Loop: I press down the pad, let go and the sound loops indefinitely until I press the pad again

I've read and the manual (lol, though) and through the forums but cannot for the life me find out if this is even possible. Any thoughts?

Those modes don't exist on the e2.

Samples default to a drum-trigger-like behavior. Tap a pad, the entire sample plays through.

If you want it to play only as long as a pad is held, you actually need to make it loop, under Sample Edit. Set a loop start point.

Only setting a loop point (the entire sample if you want, or a start point that loops to the end) will make the sample act as a gate.

There's no way to get it to loop indefinitely, not by just tapping a pad. You can set a loop point and fill the entire pattern with tied steps. Then the sound will cycle forever, as long at the pattern is playing.

When you change loop points, don't forget to export all samples to the card, otherwise you will lose your loop points.

Yes, this seems counterintuitive, but it's workable.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I am going to try that out tonight, hopefully it will be sufficient and I won't need to regress back to an SP-404 Sad

Also, when the Amp EG button is unlit, the decay/release knob acts as a gate time parameter. When it is at 127, an unlooped sample will always play to the end. At 64, only the first half of the sample will play etc...

micklosahum, I was looking for this as well. I am surprised more people haven't mentioned this as one of the many mistakes made with this piece.

I want to also point out the Global Parameter - Trigger Mode, which is more or less is the feature the OP was asking about. From the Parameter Guide:

Quote:

TRIGGER MODE .....................................[Normal, Seq 1st, Seq Play]
Specifies what happens when you strike a trigger pad in Trigger mode.
Normal: The C4 note is sounded.
Seq 1st: The first note recorded in the part is sounded. If not
even one note is recorded, the C4 note is sounded.
Seq Play: The sequence recorded in the part plays while you
hold down the trigger pad.
