In a way, Kronos has already been made into software only.

Korg Gadget has almost all of Korg's engines, and it also has many more.

Kronos:
HD-1 ==> Marseille/Glasgow
SGX-1 => Salzburg
EP-1 => Montreal/Firenze
CX-3 => Alexandria
MOD-7 => Chiang Mai
MS-20EX => Memphis
PolySix-EX => Pompei
Wavestation/Vector Synthesis => Milpitas/Kiev

Vintage Korg:
M1 => Darwin
Mono/Poly => Montpellier

Other Vintage:
TB-303 => Chicago
ARP => Lexington
OB-X => Phoenix

======================================

Oasys was an acronym for Open Architecture System. Back in the 90s, Korg began developing DSP code that modeled different kinds of synthesis types, including VPM (FM), physically modeled brass and strings, and various types of analog filter types. This tech was in the Korg OASYS PCI, Korg Z1, Korg Prophecy.

The most useful engines were kept alive in the Oasys keyboard, which was released in 2005. The legacy was continued with the release of the Kronos in 2011.

You have made my point more succinctly, thanks.

Thanks, Hector. That makes sense.

But I can dream, can't I? Smile

Of course you can ! The question is : do you want to turn your dreams into a musical reality, now, with existing gear (be hardwares or softwares) ; or do you want to stay into your dreams for some years long, waiting for an hypothetical realization ?

You are the only one who can answer this question !

I'm not waiting for any hypothetical realization, and I don't understand why you would assume that I am.

If you had any idea of the number of hours I've put into my Kronos, you would know there is no question remaining to be answered.

But I'd still like to see a software-only version. There's no contradiction between wanting that and at the same time using the currently available Kronos, which is after all extremely powerful and well beyond anything I could have imagined not so long ago.

The KORG Gadget is mildly interesting, but not nearly a full-featured software version of the Kronos.

But thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Oh, yes, it's quite simple to answer : you said "But I can dream, can't I? ".

I’m going to assume there’s a language issue here. Otherwise I can’t think of any logical reason why you would interpret what I wrote in the way that you did, nor why you would want to waste your/my/everyone else’s time by pursuing this obtuse misunderstanding of my comments.

As for me, I don’t.

Same reason there's no Motif, Fantom or Jupiter plugins. I don't know the reason but it's probably the same Smile
