|
|
I've spent far more hours on this sound than I initially thought I would and/or wanted to. I've asked questions, scoured articles, messaged people and got help from multiple people. (Thanks to everyone who helped me with this one)
I would like to present:
The Jordan Rudess Lead Sound. (~2008 to present)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/49099211/JRLEADEnigmaFINAL.PCG
Here's the MP3 example clip:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/49099211/JRLeadExampleEnigmaFinal.mp3
The controls are exactly as described by Jerry, who wrote the article while interviewing Jordan Rudess, and described the settings for the lead. While a LOT of the sound was covered to get a rough approximation, there were come critical parts missing.
I've done my best to fill in those gaps.
Here are the assignments:
Joy +X = Bend up 2ct
Joy -X = Bend down -12ct
Joy +Y = 5th's harmonics
Joy -Y = Octave harmonics
SW2 = Push the feedback an octave higher (Toggle)
Vjoy -Y and +X = RingMod harmonics on the main sound. (This was described by Jerry, however Jordan apparently doesn't use it. I've included it for authenticity purposes)
Ribbon = AM harmonics on the main sound, gritty harmonics on the feedback (Joy +/-)
Aftertouch = Dirtier harmonic resonance on the feedback layer(s)
Knob 5 = Changes Joy -Y into Wah instead of Feedback.
I'm hoping that it's accurate enough that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between his version and my rendition.
If anyone has questions or feedback, please let me know. _________________ Korg Kronos 88 2, Korg Kronos 73, Kurzweil K2600S

Wow, congratulations: this one really nails it!
I feel guilty for having provoked all that trouble.
I hope you can at least enjoy, that you achieved something really special on the Kronos! _________________ Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5 |

The original PCG and MP3 links no longer work, if anyone feels charitable please re-upload the PCG somewhere file somewhere, that was a sad moment getting the "file not found" message. |
