Midi Uses Upper 2&3 Slots As GM Voices

When I play styles, I sometimes use upper 2 for a wind controller, using any voice I choose. When I use the Pa4x as a sound source for playing midi files on my tablet, I can't because Upper 2 is in use playing the SMF. Is there any way around this?

By default, upper 2 is on midi channel #2.
You can modify your global midi settings so that channel #2 is not received by the PA4X.
It is also possible, on the tablet, to avoid sending channel #2. This obviously depends on the application used on the tablet.

Is it possible to change the default channel for UP2, so he doesn’t have to change the channel of all his sequences?

Actually, for each midi channel, we can indicate what the PA must do with what goes in (Global > MIDI > MIDI IN) and what it must send to (Global > MIDI > MIDI OUT).
The second possibility I mentioned is obviously only interesting if the application on the tablet allows a processing, at MIDI output, similar to what happens in global on the PA.
