I think the OP is probably talking about smaller pop string sections. I used to use some Kirk Hunter string samples for my Kurzweil back in the day, and yes, these sounded MUCH more ‘live’ than most large string ensembles in a pop setting.
Just four violins, two violas, two cellos, that sort of thing.
As a substitute using the ROM, I might suggest the small chamber strings layered with a solo violin/solo cello split, with the solo strings much more velocity sensitive, so they only pop out more predominantly on harder played notes. Keep the reverb fairly short, too. That’s typical in smaller pop string use. |

I found some amazing real strings on telegram. They are sampled from kronos 2 and korg v3.
