When backing up my direct keyboard Set, I use a Media Save All to HD and USB drive copied to my ext HD. Since the Set Lists are a subset of Songbook, am I correct that they are not saved, and would have to be reconstructed if my pen drive went bad ?

You cannot backup any DIRECT data using "Save-All"

The ONLY way to backup your DIRECT data is to perform a COPY of the the DIRECT SET - you can do this using MEDIA>>Copy
You will then have 2 copies of your DIRECT SET

In your case, in order to perform a safe and full backup of your personal data, you need to perform a MEDIA>>SAVE>Save_ALL plus a MEDIA>>Copy to make a new copy of your DIRECT SET - then all your data should be recoverable from these 2 backups.

Cheers

On a PA there is a slot for a MicroSD card.

On my own PA I use the MicroSD Card as a backup.

It contains exactly the same folder structure and files as the USB drive does hence there is no problem should the USB drive fail.

Yep - I use mine for emergency backups but remember it is not hot-swappable - external USB is far friendlier Very Happy

Yep, that is why my MicroSD is for backup only.

Not that I hot swap the USB anyway, I am too much of a neurotic data protection nerd to do that, I always power off my PA before attaching or removing my USB.

And as for Backups, my USB is also backed up to two different portable hard drives.

Sad really.

I'll translate this comment - "sad" = "sensible"

Every time I play/rehearse etc (EVERY TIME) I save all my data to HDD, internal SSD, and SD
I regularly backup that to my PC.
I name my saved sets something like:-
yyyymmdd_bandname
This means they always sort in date order.

Sometimes I perform this more than once at a rehearsal depending on how much I am changing/creating etc... so I might append a,b,c,d...to the date portion of the name.

Do not trust HDD, SSD, SD, USB as a single means of backup and make sure you have copies external to your keyboard.

But that's just me Wink

This is why I doggedly attempt to make sure I am on the right path. I got in a mess by hot swapping my USB, until one day it quit functioning altogether. Pete spent a good amount of time trying to get me straightened out. The only bright spot was that I was forced to create a good deal of data over again. However, now that it is done, I have improved on everything I had, plus added more.

A tough lesson learned. Thanks to all.
