Had to format the SSD in my Kronos 1, and are using the restore DVDs to install system and data. The installation seems to work fine until it stops midway and I get the message:

"The USB DVD drive does noe have sufficient power. Please use a different drive, or connect this drive to a separate power supply."

I actually use a DVD drive with a separate power supply already.

Any suggestions would be DEEPLY appreciated. I need the Kronos for a gig tomorrow, and feel the stress already.

I recall someone hosted a site with the DVD data to d/l

why not google for that ?

In addition , Korg site should make the DVD's available to D/L but I can't be sure that's accurate.

Also check your power outlets- it could be that simple. Or try another power outlet in your home.

Another idea just like that in case it can help you : taking into account the particular message you read (not enough power), note that USB standard max current is limited. Try again but plugging in two USB cables between the drive (if so equipped) and the Kronos. This way you could double the available current if for some reason the unit is protecting itself detecting another USB power entering and this could trick it to complete the task. Easy to try and costs nothing if you have two USB cables available.

Still not working. Tried different power outlets and using USB cable with two ends to plug into the Kronos.
The strange thing is that it always stops during installing PCM 6/3.

From that new info, maybe it's just a bad disk. Do you still see the insufficient power message or now the Kronos just freezes at that particular sector ? Next step maybe would be to create a new DVD from an image. Did you find a source online for the Kronos DVDs ?

SOLVED!!
The error message was misleading, something was wrong with the original DVD's from Korg.
BUT I had to make three DVD's before I got a set that worked. Im using Asus DVD-reader/burner with no extra power - other then usb from Kronos.

Thanks guys for all help and support. I'm having 4 gigs during the next 5 days, so I've been pretty stressed, but happy now Smile
