Really hope this will be a MASSIVE upgrade from SV1
I had SV1 for a while, and other than the sound of it, I disliked almost EVERYTHING
- Stiff and heavy action
- No splits and layers
- No smooth sounds transitions
- No pitch and mod wheels
- The ergonomics didn't allow to put another keyboard on top
- Heavy and bulky
But truly the worst and most annoying thing was the unacceptable volume differences between sounds. So irritating. Organs and synth were easily twice as loud as piano
Let's wait and see.
They have a lot of things to improve |

Now the SV2 gets more high quality EP variation than the Kronos flagship factory content offers.
The Kronos, in sharp contrast, neither is updated in any meaningful way any more, since quite a while now, nor does it have a meanwhile heavily overdue successor. I would prefer a workstation upgrade ten times over anything else Korg has to offer!
Disappointing times for longtime Kronos users... _________________ Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5 |

Meanwhile, as KORG preps its new SV-2, Viscount comes up with a new Legend 70's modular piano which apparently allows you to assemble and dissemble the front modules in order to configure the piano to your liking, very interesting take on the stage piano.
I haven't found any details on the modules yet but NAMM is close, so...
There's a lot of competition in the stagepiano market. |

As far as the cosmetics are concerned, it may not have a practical flat top but I found the SV-1 always a very beautiful retro styled stage piano, and apparently the SV-2 with speakers has an ivory finish which I really like.
So, that leaves the highly anticipated next gen workstation many are waiting for to be revealed. |
