Very much want any OS updates.
Not asking for a complete redoing. Really any small enhancements would be welcome.
One has to be jaleous, when you see how much Yamaha has been doing the last couple of years for their Montage/Modx and Genos platform.

Am also very much hoping to get a 64bit update for the Windows plugin. People has been asking for this for quite some time, so was possitive to see the Mac update.

I agree. I made a case on how Korg's 'peers' communicate and provide active service.

There is a long list of possible enhancements, small, medium, big.

Like you, I think we should be realistic, small enhancements would prove Korg
is putting some of their profit money into the $3000 - $4000 flagship.

I note Korg has not changed their MSRP for 9 years.

Same high price. Year after year. No significant OS enhancements for years.

We live in a world of " what have you done lately " .

I think we , as owners, should actively tell Korg what is expected.

Its not a 1 way street IMO.

Korg should show reasonable attention to Kronos owners.

Get going on OS update would be reasonable attention.

Yamaha does excellent work updating MODX/Montage. I am impressed
by their commitment to the MODX/Montage community.

You're impressed with Yamaha's four-year commitment but unimpressed by Korg's eight-year commitment. Wake me up when Yamaha provides meaningful Montage/MODX updates in 2025.

Also note, Yamaha never did the kinds of updates they're now doing with the Montage/MODX prior to the Kronos.

Busch.

Thats interesting.

You imply Yamaha does their OS updates because of Korg.

Yamaha with their OS updates shows they listen to their owners.

Listening is part of communication - I stress this is important.

2025 ? predicting the future ? Good luck with that

Always fun posting with you, William.

Actually, if you want to single out a MI company for providing ongoing, free, meaningful updates that would be Kurzweil.

Kurzweil is a good one. I have mentioned Nord as an example.

Thanks

I love my Kurzweil and have for a very long time. Korg is a definite second but many of their design decisions are lacking for 2020.

Thanks for getting on this Greg. I hope we do see some movement in this arena.

I wouldn't mind paying a small but symbolic amt if it meant making an update somewhat profitable (or breakeven) for Korg. I figured the only reason why it has not happened yet is financial.

I understand the gesture, as far as getting an OS enhancement sooner vs never.

FYI, I have a financial background. Decades with electronic co's and manufacturers.

No one should ever worry about Korg Inc's bottom line or finances.

They are a successful company , while they holds their cards close to the vest, I believe there annual profits are strong.

Been studying Korg for years.

But there's a big difference. Kurzweil continues to offer significant OS updates. They recently added a complete 6-op FM synth engine and major sequencer enhancements to the six-year-old Forte. They have a long history of providing updates to old synths. Nord doesn't do this. They really only provide basic maintenance updates to their OS. Enhanced organ and Leslie sims, for example, required people to sell their Stages in order to get the updates. Nord DOES have their expanding free sound library, but that needs to be tempered by the fact Nord's original sound library was very limited. Fans don't like to refer to the Nords as ROMplers. They are, in fact, ROMplers in the making. Rather than providing a full, rich soundset at the outset, they brought it out over time.

Always thought Korg was a small company compares to the big boys (Yamaha, Roland, Behringer).
But what do I know.
Very Happy

No no no and ... No
Yamaha does not and has never done more update than Korg.
And Roland too.

All these companies do a lot updates during some years and then : stop.

I have owned many keyboards along the years and the story is always the same : At the start many updates and somme years after : none.

All we have to do is to be used to !

look at the new product Korg generates every year, plus their very long history, plus that Yamaha sits on their board, and supports Korg financially

Not small. Smart for sure.

Don't worry about Korg Inc., financially.
