|
|
Hello. I've been enjoying working with my kronos a lot. However, all this time I've been listening to my playbacks using my headphone. I also happen to use a scarlett 18i8 as well. It sounds simply amazing, but I've been looking for a monitor speaker as well. However, I'm a bit worried that they might not produce sounds that are as "clean" or accurate as when I'm using my headphones.
I'm looking for monitor speakers that can produce "honest" and "clean" sounds for my kronos. I once borrowed a presonus eris 4.5 from a friend of mine, but the sounds are just way too 'dirty'. Especially with piano sounds like ZERO G PIANOFORTE, the high notes just sound really bad, which makes it terrible for arpeggios.
Any recommendations? (Budget ranging from USD 200~700)
Thank you! |

It really depends on budget. Some like KRK, some like JBL, some like Presonus, some like Kali Audio, some like Focal, some also like Reftones. There are monitors for everyone out there.
I have had success with Presonus and use the Eris 3.5 in my studio and they sound great. I also have JBL and other companies in my studio and they all work well.
I am not sure what you mean by 'clean'...
Usually, with a good monitor, they reproduce what is being input into them. If there is 'dirt' it is usually coming from the source.
You mention headphones as well. What are you using for headphones? Headphones are pretty good for mixing and casual listening, but there are times that they can actually give you a mix thatsounds much different when you play it back on studio monitors. I have mixed albums from headphones, but mainly do it for instrument placement in the stereo field more than anything.
What is your application? Studio work or casual listening? What are your volume requirements?
You initial post does not really go into detail as to WHAT you are trying to do.
You also mention your audio interface. Are you going into a computer from the interface for recording or casual listening? Have you used the headphones directly into your keyboard or only through the interface?
I imagine that the Kronos will sound good with any monitor, but bigger monitors will usually sound better because they can reproduce the bass better than a smaller monitor. You may also need a subwoofer.
A little more information would be helpful.
Grace,
