There are a lot of different 'Hammond' sounds. Hammond was the brand of organ that everyone emulates...

Are you looking for a rock organ sound, a jazz organ sound?

You are going to need to be more specific.

As I look at the list of sounds in the EK-50 Voice Name List, there are a number of sounds that emulate what someone playing a Hammond might use.

Most of the sounds in the Voice Name List are different drawbar settings and EFX settings for different organ sounds. They also ffer differing amounts of 'Percussion' that add attack to the sound when you initially press the keys.

If you stay away from the Pipe Organ, Puff Organs, Church Organ, you will find the others in different settings that you can use for different songs.

If the Leslie (also called Rotary) effect is not being used, you may want to set that up to be used wtih the organ sounds, as the Leslie rotating speaker was also a pretty big part of the 'sound' of a Hammond.

Unfortunately, the EK does not have Drawbars that you can manipulate in real-time. That would require a keyboard dedicated to organ sounds (a clonewheel), a keyboard with a touch screen that you can adjust Drawbars with (Korg PA700 and PA1000), or a keyboard with sliders (Korg Kronos or PA4X).

Your sound will be a bit static but adding the Leslie effect during your performanc will add a bit of life to it.

Grace,
Harry

Hello. Tanks for the feedback.
Is it possible to connect Ferrofish B4000+ to the Ek50L?

Since the EK50L only has USB jacks on it and no traditional 5-pin MIDI jacks, I am not sure if the Korg would control any devices from its USB jacks or not. You may need a PC in order to do that.

You should probably send a query to Ferrofish and see if it can be controlled via USB from another keyboard with the Host device. I am not privy to any of those details.

Grace,
Harry
