I just wonder why the (needed ram / disk) size of some EXs in the default preload.ksc is smaller then the single EXs on the ssd.

Code:

EXs       Preload              Single
EXs3      127M / 288M          305M / 708M
EXs4      1,2M / 1.2M           53M / 185M
EXs7      107M / 4.7G          183M / 4.8G

As for EXs4 I found that in the stock preload are only multisamples 29-36 (clavi) included.

For EXs3 are all Trombones and some trumpets stereo samples missing.
Only 6 from 12 are available.
As for mono samples only 86 from 201.

The larger EXs7 files contains files from EXs6 (damper noise etc.).
So in case EX6 is loaded anyway the small ones should be fine.

Indeed the stock PRELOAD doesn't load everything since there would not be enough memory anyway. By cleaning up the things you never use, you can then create different KSC files to load whatever you prefer instead.

For example, at some point I got rid of all the samples I never use in several KSC files from stock Korg sounds and also third-parties addons and could easily make room for more than 400 MB of RAM for other things.

If needed, you can also create many different KSC files according to what you will do during given studio sessions or gigs. For example, you can load all the orchestral stuff you mention (EXs3) and many others when you record film scores until you fill your Kronos memory, then a completely different KSC set for vintage keyboards (EXs4 with all electric pianos, etc.).
