Hi guys
I did the forum search first but would still like some advice.
I play drums in a 20-piece big band and would like to use my Korg Wavedrum Global for some percussion sounds in our Latin numbers.
I already own Behringer 15" powered speakers (18kgs each!!) but would ideally like to use something that will adequately "cut through" the band without breaking my back (have enough carrying my main acoustic kit)
I guess I don't really need a stereo solution in this case....
Many thanks

My Simmons DA200S has been great, and I haven't tested how loud it gets because I like the front wall of my house where it is. It has output jacks to connect it to the rest of the sound system too. |

But the DA200S is 28 kilos, so it's a *heavier* solution. What about using a small e-drum or keyboard amp (or headphones/ear buds) for just your own monitor, and tie the Wavedrum into the system the rest of the band is using, and let your sound guy keep the mix right? |

There really is no small solution for sound amplification for drums. Drums need the full audio range preferably stereo. Speaker smaller than 12 inches cannot reproduce the lows of the kick and other bass percussion. A minimal setup would be a 12inch active PA speaker with good power rating. These will always weigh more than 30 pounds (13 Kgs) due to the large speaker and amplifier. The laws of physics win every time. There's no magic small solution. |
