I purchased the new sound library on the Korg Shop and written down the code on a piece of paper - tried to activate it on the Kronos (but the Demo was still activate and the code was wrong).
Luckily I logged on the Korg shop again later and saw that one or two numbers/letters were wrong (my mistake)
I think I entered the wrong code two or three times before entering the correct one - this time I made a photo to be sure .
But for all those who knows Korg Kronos deep inside: could entering wrong Authentication code too many times for the Expansions Sound Library completely lock Korg Kronos for any further use?!
I know that every Authentication code is only valid for a single unit - but mistakes can happen.
Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge, there is no limit or locking. The entry is long and a bit archaic, though I understand why. Locking it would have no bearing since you could always reformat and reinstall. So I would think that "no" is the correct answer. ha ha _________________ Jon Solo

I spent a bit of time trying to understand the authentication mechanism in the Kronos. When you enter a key, it checks to see if it’s valid, and if it is, it simply appends it to a text file stored on the SSD. I can’t remember if this file is stored in the encrypted loop back file system or not though.
As far as I recall, there was no mechanism for recording how many times an invalid key had been entered. That was from looking at the assembly code in IDA Free though, so I might be wrong.
Fun fact: the expansion libraries aren’t encrypted! The samples can pretty easily be extracted from the installers… _________________ Current Equipment:

Not any more. You now can use your license on 3 devices. It can be on the Kronos or Nautilus |
