|
Hi, can I connect my computer to Kronos USB-B port if I want to use the Kronos as an audio interface or is this only done thru the USB-A (1/2) ports? _________________ Yamaha S90ES, Kronos 2 61, Roland D50, Roland Integra 7, Roland D-05 |

When a PC or Mac is connected to the Kronos' USB-B port, the Kronos presents itself to the computer host as a MIDI device and as an audio device.
The USB-A ports on the Kronos act as host ports for external QWERTY keyboards, hard drives, memory devices and optical disk drives, class-compliant MIDI controllers, and for USB to Ethernet devices. Audio interfaces connected to the Kronos' USB-A ports will not be recognised.

. | Ok, so if understand this correctly, if I have a PC with lets say Cubase and VST instruments and make recordings (using only sound from computer), can I connect the computer to the Kronos USB-A port and get sound output from the computer recordings thru the Kronos? _________________ Yamaha S90ES, Kronos 2 61, Roland D50, Roland Integra 7, Roland D-05 |

Yes, via a USB memory stick or USB hard drive/SSD. I don't think a USB-A to USB-A cable will allow the Kronos to "see" the audio files created on the PC.
However, using an Ethernet adaptor on the Kronos would allow recorded audio files to be transferred via FTP to the Kronos. Bear in mind that the Kronos doesn't work with every USB to Ethernet adapter. There is a list of preferred devices given in the Operations Guide, plus there has been some discussion here about additional devices that have been used successfully. Note also, the Kronos won't recognise MP3 files, so save your VST-generated audio as WAV files.
