Personally, I'd recommend a Laptop ($400), sound card ($200) and Vir2's Electri6ity ($400) and you'll have the most realistic library of electric guitars & effects that money can buy. There are a couple of companies selling Pa3x/4x "wanna be" good electrics but they aren't even close and they're expensive to boot.

I've been experimenting with different guitar sounds on my setup as well. For the effects you're looking for like Wawa, distortion, overdrive, you might want to check out various pedals from brands like Boss or Electro-Harmonix. Local music stores often have a good range of options, or you can look online.
I read an article on ironageaccessories.com about electric guitar knobs, and they mentioned that hat knobs are generally better than speed knobs for precise control. That's something you might want to consider when tweaking your sound. |
