|
|
Received my new PA5X today and have a couple of ‘newbie’ questions related to the its factory sounds and multi-samples that I was hoping someone could help me with…
I was paging through the various factory sounds and to my disappointment could not find any Celtic sounds - more specifically any tin whistle or low whistle
either within the woodwinds section or the ethnic section. This was rather disappointing because the Genos along with the Yamaha Motif and Montage keyboards
have a decent selection of Celtic sounds available onboard.
However, in looking through the PA5X’s operations manual, I noticed that the appendix contained a list of over 2,000 ‘multi-samples’ starting on page 1469.
And among them were several tin whistles that showed promise (Items 204-206).
I assumed that these represented factory default sounds/samples that were resident in the PA5X and which could be accessed via a more advanced sound editing function.
And following some instructions in the operations manual, I entered the ‘multi-sample edit’ section assuming that was the way to access them.
However, I could not find any way to locate them. Instead, it appeared that the PA5X’s multi-sample editing functions were intended for externally-sourced multi-samples
that were loaded/imported by the user.
So my question: what exactly does this list of 2,000+ multi-samples in the appendix represent? Are these multi-samples internally resident and accessible in the PA5X?
And if not, are they somehow available from Korg to be imported into the PA5X? And help/advice about this would be greatly appreciated! |

There are three basic forms of sounds.
You have multisamples that you can find in the oscillator section in the sound editor. You have sounds en a combination of sounds called keyboard sets.
I think you are searching in the keyboard sets for the celtic flutes.
You need to search for the sounds. It is somewhat hidden.
Press the Rec/Edit button, than under Sound choose SoundEdit -> Main page.
On the Mainpage of sound editor press the Sound. Than you see the library with all the sounds.
Somethings are hidden, for example you can create split point from keyboard sets but also within a keyboard set. For the first option you need to use Split and for the second the Ensemble button.
I am a newbie too, welcome _________________ Korg PA5X, Yamaha MODX7, Yamaha YH-WL500, Roland Fantom 07, Roland Boutique D-05/TR-08, Logic Pro, Roland TD-02KV, Roland GO:KEYS 5 |

For quick access of sound resources use Search Tab , search primary KBD SET for "Celtic flute" or "Celtic" and then SOUNDs
in case such sound resources have not been used in existing factory KBD Sets and create your own. _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

Thanks DaPale and AntonySmarmman for your quick responses and help.
I will definitely follow your suggestions and hopefully that will do the trick. If not I hope you don't mind me coming back here to post a followup question (grin)! |
