On the PA1000 I have noticed that once the STS/Variation link button is on,
Let's say you are on Variation 1, and you touch another sts, if you press the Variation 1 button again it does not change the sts back to the corresponding variation again. PA900 does this with no problem. Any idea?

That really is no variation STS Link issue.

With Pa1000 if you select a Keyboard Set (1 -4) from the selected styles, that is the same as you did with Pa900 and STS1-4.
When choosing a style, keyboard set 1 automatically is selected if "Style to KbdSet" indicator is ON.

If "Style to KbdSet" indicator is BLINKING choosing a variation automatically recalls the corresponding keyboard set (1 - 4) inside the style. That is the same as you had with Pa900, when using STS MODE flashing, because this function makes each variation recalling the corresponding STS only when selected.

Variation are recalling STS / Keyboard Sets in same manner as you had with Pa900 depending on flashing buttons. When flashing each STS / KeyboardSet with Button 1 - 4 can be used to play with the same Variation, but in case you change Variation you also get a change to the corresponding STS/KeyboardSet.

Hi Siebenhirter,
Thank you for your reply. I will test it again on the PA1000. But after 8 years with PA900, I am very intimately familiar with all the buttons and features and functions. Here is what is not working:
1- Turn on the style to KBD set to blinking mode
2- start playing a style
3- click var-1 so sts-1 is chosen and playing
4- Touch the sts-2 on the SCREEN . Now sts-2 is active on the upper area.
5- press var-1 again (on pa900 the sts is changed back to sts-1)
But on PA1000 the sts- remains on sts-2 unless you press a different variation and back to var-1.

Test it out and let me know unless the new OS-1.5.1 messing things up.
Thank you [/b]

No test is necessary, because STS remains also in case you recall a variation that still is running. That is because pressing the running variation does nothing, doesn't even activate changing a variation - why it should change the STS, which is much easier and more logical with using the corresponding STS button.

STS mode had the same behavior on all arranger keyboards and so it would be surprising if it would be different on the Pa900.
The Pa900 manual also confirms the STS function as follows:

STS MODE
This button lets you cycle between the following functions.
On: When a Style is selected, STS 1 is also automatically selected. The Keyboard’s sounds and effects will change, along with the Style’s sounds and effects.
Flashing: Variation/STS Link function activated. This function makes each Variation recall the corresponding STS when selected. For example, select Variation 2, and STS 2 will be automatically recalled; select Variation 3, and STS 3 will be automatically recalled.
Off : When you select a Style, the Style’s sounds and effects will change. The Keyboard’s sounds and effects will not change.

That means "flashing" activates a variation to recall the corresponding STS when selected - only when selected, not when repeating the current variation.

When variation was selected and used with different STS no new selection of variation 1 occurs when you repeat to press again variation 1. It also seems more logical to STS buttons for selection of different STS or keyboardsets.

It seems to be easier to use the corresponding STS button for the initial keybordset back to a recent running variation.

Just a note that on PA900, when you repeat the variation, it does bring back the corresponding STS if the auto-fill is on. It is a bummer that they changed that in PA1000.
