|
|
Short version:
While sequencing a track that is supposed to play an external MIDI device only, I also hear an internal voice of the Triton.
More detailed version:
In SEQ mode.
I intend to create a song using some internal sound sources, some external sources.
First up, I am trying to sequence an external drum module on MIDI channel 10.
I am recording on track 1 in the sequencer and have assigned this track to MIDI channel 10 and selected "EXT" in the track parameters.
This does indeed trigger the external device as hoped. However, when I am playing on the keyboard I simultaneously hear an internal voice of the Triton (namely, whatever internal program is assigned to part 10).
Could anybody please help me work out what I'm doing wrong?
Other notes:
There is no MIDI looping back to the Triton from an external device, if that's relevant.
Local on is ON.
After recording is finished, the track plays back fine and I only hear the external device, as hoped. |

Things to try:
Go to MENU>Trk Param and set Status to "Off" for tracks 2-16.
Also look at below Status at MIDI Channel (particularly track 10) to make sure none except track 1 is set to MIDI channel 10. _________________ bpoodoo

Great, thanks for the suggestions. They both work.
It's still a bit strange to me that while I have selected a track that is assigned to only send MIDI externally, an internal voice would also be triggered just because it is on the same MIDI channel. My experience with other sequencers (Yamaha and Roland) is not like this.
If this is just how Korg works, it looks like the most practical workaround for me is going to be to make sure that every track has a unique MIDI channel regardless of whether some are set to internal and some are external. I'll just have to get used to it.
Thanks again. |
