|
|
Hi all:
I think I just backed up all the factory sounds to JUST 2 floppies...
Does this seem possible?
DISK1 is full and contains one 1383kb file called NEWFILE.PCG
and
DISK2 contains
one Directory called NEWFILE, and 3 other files:
NEWFILE.KSC 1kb
NEWFILE.PCG 906kb
NEWFILE.SNG 5kb
Is this all that is needed to load/restore back to my factory sounds condition?
Thanks for any replies!
Regards,
(Newbie) Mike |

To restore sounds that DO NOT use samples, a simple .PCG file loads Program, Combination, and Global files (global data includes user drum sets and scales as well as settings for pedals midi filter, etc.) Most 3rd party sounds such as those found at the KF download section are only the .PCG section as opposed to a "full" save.
SNG are song files, and unless you are using the onboard sequencer to play backsequences (i.e., demos) recorded in Korg format, that file doesn't have to be loaded. Nor does KSC.

Hi Bill:
Thanks for the reply!
If I understand you correctly, I can get back to where I am now with just this much backed up.
I'm just surprised because the literature talks about the ROM being in the 5 MB range I think, and my backup (of PCG) is in the 1 -2 MB range.
(Also, I gather the reason folks start using SCSI and Zips or Jaz disks is because they want to save larger backups of additional sounds or tweaked creation ones?)
Thanks again
