Okay, here goes:
What is a "low noise floor"?
What is the "DSP"?
No idea what RCA or S/PDIF are, but from what you say about recording one stereo track at a time, I probably don't need to worry about that.
Think I know what preamp is, so to record "live" instrumental or vocal tracks I would need a separate mixing board,.....any suggestions for make/model?
Otherwise this sounds like the sound card I need to get!
Thanks Jon! |

I looked up "noise floor" - is it something about measuring the noise the device itself generates when sitting still?
Also now know that DSP stands for Digital Signal Processing.
Any other explanations in simple terms would be much appreciated.

Ellll, you can post anything here if you want, but if too many people are posting mixed subjects here, it may get confusing. You could just start a thread for a specific problem and get feedback there if you want. I see this post is going to get quite lengthy. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Hi, Friends!!..??,
Can you say Nuclear?..and then Medicine?...Wife will need a test for Gall Bladder ductwork...$3200...and we haven't Ins. on her..as she is Diab...(I am actually pretty good at ductwork...but I think somehow this is different...)
Line on bottom reads..." hold on any additional new equip, ..indef..."..
So..I am going to look ....full power, for used... local...(this as a resort/party area, and it should be a good chance...)..Otherwise...please accept my poor sound, BUT I can still follow some of Jon's hints...and I will try to do so..
Best To ALL!!! John |

O.K....Used the FTP last time...took a bit for it to come up,..also used it to re-try another song...worked...My Feb song went there fine..
Now I can't get on..even after 30 min of wait..Tried an hour or so..it wants re-new it seems...so I went to the site and dnloaded...(Was that a mistake?? I guess so..) ..but it does nothing...wants a client name...
Came to korgforums and did the re-establish thing by filling in the info again..under the "sticky"..Still nothing...What have I done wrong??
Regards!! ellll
PS.....O.K. The server first page is coming up now...but it asks for the client, user, password..etc...?????? it will go nowhere else, and the help topics tell nothing...
Thanks!! John |

well, i'm stumped, if february went up fine, then you must be doing what you're supposed to, but why now it won't work, strange _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Thanks, George..
I haven't a clue..but it DID refuse to come up...it always did before after a few min when I clicked OK..(on the bottom of the Smart FTP notice...) ..I did what I thought was the correct thing to do to up date..and it is now like it was brand new...no server at all ....all drop-down menus say unknown...so maybe I need.:
1) host..., 2) user name..., 3) password...(it does have 21 for the ...I forget..whatever, already in the little space)
Thats what it asks for, and I don't remember...But I believe it is on the Smart FTP page that comes up...If someone sent me those three things, could I get back on???
You know, I never did any change or update in that change-over a couple of years ago, so there may be a connection..Can't even remember what was going on, but Sharp sent out some info..and I can't find it....Mine always worked the same, even tho it always reminded me of the req to buy or update...so that may be it...
However, I went through the old posts on the sub, and couldn't find what happened then...(???)..
Would like a hint sometime, if anyone knows...

Next Question...George, and others...
I mean to take off the sample...and I do wonder again, after the issues of the past, when Sharp had to dump stuff...
Are we not required to "clean up after ourselves"?..WHEN should we remove prev. songs????
Thanks!!! John |

Daz and Sharp are like the unappreciated house keepers.... picking up the old sock and underwear that is left hanging on the doorknobs in the MP3 bedroom. I was never nice enough to inquire this question. I believe they will remove it after a while but you can remove them as well.
Before one of them chime in, "Yes, it is your responsibility".... let me say "Sorry"!
I feel like such an irresponsible husband...wait, I am a irresponsible husband . _________________ “I’m into scales right now.”

Well Jaz.. prob, not a prob maybe...,
I just recall a note from Sharp as well as one from Daz encouraging us on the matter...and then one listing songs that had been "removed" from the server, by Sharp..quite a looong list...and I had four (!!) I had forgotten...and felt a bit embarrassed..so I just am thinking also about taking up space...
But as I don't understand how all that works anyway,...(and actually don't want to understand for that matter...)..I just thought a specific guideline might be helpful...
I have all I need, for example, on the possible theme I have on...so I will remove it this PM...
Just like to do whats best,...ellll John |
