Hi all,
why not just waiting to see what will be in the V2.0 Editor release.
We may be surprised !? Very Happy
Imagine an Editor/Librarian able to deal with the Kronos samples ?
This will fit perfectly with the new user sample related functions !

So wait and see.

We will have time after that to discuss on the functions included or not !

Cheers Very Happy

I dont think its a matter of just wait and see? Its a fact that Korg said it was to be released at the end of August. Talk about self emploding! Some may say if we keep on about this they wont tell us anything. I say i didn't ask for a date, they gave it!

Hello, is there anybody in there? Is there anybody home? Famous words from the Pink! Pretty much sums up this topic in reply from Korg. Rolling Eyes

It's not my intention to attack him or his company on a personal level.

But I'm very sensitive to "design" and "UI" perspectives and every time I look at their website, their product screenshots and the Korg editor I really feel I'm back in the 90's.

Even the sreenshots of their latest Midi Quest XL application are taken with Windows XP - which is over 10 years old now.
A website aligned to the left side of the browser - who does that ?? Not to mention the "retro"-styled header and menu buttons.

I'm sorry to say, but in my eyes those things really damage your company's image...

Is Soundquest in any way connected to Emagic (now part of Apple)?
It´s products look very much like Sound Diver (still have to use that with my K5000s). It seems to have the same convoluted menu structure. Question

I personally still love single purpose one device solutions. You have a much better control over the device and can optimize code. A Synth is more like a plan that needs a secure, tried and tested software and not a one size fits all approach. No plane would fly with windows, osx or linux on it´s computers.

Of course you can use frameworks that are usable for many architectures. We could do that way back in the 90ies with Digital Research GEM 3.0. It´s no problem now with .NET and Cocoa/Core MIDI or even crappy Java etc.

Any ideas how to use the Kronos in a DAW ? The old editor does not work anymore and the new one is not out yet.

Is there any information about a release date ??? Need to work with it and cannot wait any longer.

You can use Kronos with a DAW in an old fashioned way:

1- open a combi or song set
2- select your programs per track (16 midi patches)
3- trigger midi tracks from your DAW to your Kronos. You have 16 midi ch for that.

Your Kronos will act as sounds generator then.

Hopefully my iPad will be repaired soon.
Then I will be able to use Genome again.

Being that Soundquest can't comment it would be good if someone from Korg could respond to this thread.

I can no longer see any mention, on Korg USA or Korg UK, for the release date (estimated even) for the editor 2.0.

I'd hazard a guess that it's more akin to producing a new software program, to deal with integrating all the Kronos's engines and features, than building a (simpler) control/transfer interface.

This is an exact repeat of previous announcements by Korg as it relates to new software releases (OS, Editor, Keybed fix, etc). It doesn't bother me anymore... I've learned to disregard dates and just enjoy what I have. Eventually the new release of (fill in the blank) will come. In the meantime, I've learned... even though I've downloaded the new OS 2.x release, I still have not installed it. It doesn't make sense to install an OS that will be incompatible with the current editor release. I'll install the new OS when the new editor is released. Until then, the previous OS does everything I need Smile
