D575,

I have proceeded to carry out the test you describe and my pa4x does not have this latency issue ? I would defo have a word with Luke at Korg about this, not sure if your dealer is completely up on the workings of the pa4x but maybe they have a product specialist who is ?

Let us know how you get on but I would not be dumping the pa4x

Ok thanks there for your time I will be giving korg a call tomorrow but I thought the 2pm Tec service had stopped in the UK ?? And I have only been using the styles from the pa4x, iv not even had a look as yet at any of my work from the pa3x on USB as iv only had the pa4x a few days and trying to feel my way round it, don't get me wrong here I can here the huge differences in sound quality in my rig in my studio over from the pa3x and as for korg dropping the user performance banks with its easy work flow as others have also said here this is a huge step backwards from korg , I think I can over come this stepped process working through the songbook then writing this on to the set list (tiled) options but as for this latency step issue when changing from one preset to another preset mid flow of playing it's a show stopper KORG, and if it is not resolved soon could very soon end my relationship with korg considering the money spent + my time here , this is so bizarre to me considering how good the pa3x was and I'm no beginner as my large pro store here in Poole would give me a call from time to time to do the demos on the pa3x, so a big fan I have been BUT this pa4x so far has been a big disappointment to me I just hope we can resolve this and soon....thanks again for everyone's time here where would we be with out this community on this forum...to be continued!

You know I purchased a PA 4X and waiting for it. I have never owned an Arranger so I guess I won't "miss" some of the items mentioned on these pages.

I will say this...Operating System Updates fix a lot of bugs quite easily. I purchased one of the first TASCAM DP 24's 4 years ago & it got hammered in the initial reviews. It was buggy and would crash. TASCAM was faithful to OS updates and it is a machine I cannot see me ever giving up.

Last night I went back and read all the reviews and they are all stellar after the initial 6 months or year.

I am buying this keyboard for the next 5 years at least....

If the sounds are there I would just relax and know KORG will iron this all out.

After all, they are KORG.....

It's the same story with almost any new keyboard (any brand) for many, many years... the true testing is in the real world, and not in the testing room.
I'm sure Korg will fix all the issues in a (couple of) OS update(s).

These machines are so complicated/sophisticated - and I'm very glad they are - but this comes with a downside.

I will wait for at least half a year or longer to even concider jumping to the PA4X flagship.

Hummm....next time make me a beta tester, I will tested before I part with the hard earned cash, at the moment I have a expensive keyboard sat at home not being used with the not so unreasonable expectation of the "not fit for purpose" stamped on it and considering how hard it was to get one and as mentioned here I'm at the mersey of korg and the unknown contents of an update , sorry to be negative here but this is my experience to-date I can only hope tomorrow's conversation with korg will lighten my mood with the not so unreasonable expectation from this new pa4x as marketed by korg...from a personal point of view it could mean no keyboard over my planed Xmas holiday in light of the availability of these units....a telling day tomorrow for me ....

I am sure that Korg will have a answer for you, what I cannot fathom is that having gone through the same procedures that you listed my pa4x works as expected ???? Could it be that your keyboard is faulty ?

If it were me I would have the conversation with Luke at Korg and see if he knows anything of this issue and if not get him to try and replicate the problem his end. If he cannot then your unit must be faulty and you will be entitled to either a refund or replacement from your dealer.

There is nothing else like the pa4x on the market so I would myself stick with it but I do understand your concerns and disappointment as I am sure Korg will. Its a lot of money to dish out and then run up against such failings but I am having such a great time with the instrument I am sold on it.

Lets us know how you get on tomorrow, fingers crossed Smile

D575 ... Are sure that your issue is just not understanding how Cue Mode works?

Iv looked at page 236 and looked at the suggestion in style record and can see cue mode , but I'm not trying to make a new style and save it in a new location as it is asking me to after changing cue mode ? I'm only trying to make to all intense purposes a preset in set list which looks to me like the replacement of what went before in previous models (pa3x) performance bank, and then move between the presets made in set list (tiled) , why would I be creating a modified new single custom style saved somewhere other than a factory style point ? What about the rest of the factor styles ? + with out the style being played and taping the right hand on the keybed the sound still has latency when switching between set list (tiled) preset while repeatedly taping the keybed with my right hand ? Also if as I have in my test 1,2,3 saved custom preset in set list (tiled) written from the the songbook then I still not only do have the latency going from preset to preset with or with out the style being played as in this test iv created I also have transpose issue when the style is being played as well as i progressively go up in transposition saved in test 1, 2,and 3 this then compounds the problem even further with the next preset iv moved to with the sound (right hand) being very slow to engage (latency) from my new command by pressing the desired setlist (tiled) screen tab or corresponding panel button with stylist buton light on, and ...take a breath here....if I'm not touching the keybed with my left hand as the style is playing as I touch screen tab (tiled) or corresponding panel Button the style does not transpose in real time unless I press the keybed or if I'm pressing and holding a note with my left-hand with the style playing then still no transpose from my preset in the setlist until I lift the left hand off the keybed and press again to activate the transpose that iv programmed in the setlist preset, the hole thing is just crazy and as iv said before this was never a problem on pa3x , also transposition and sound on right hand with out style playing are still suffering the latency issue when switching between presets in my custom set list, it is way of the mark I can tel you, so maybe I have a faulty unit as other here have kingly tested this for me and having no problems ? Mind you this pa4x has come after the first batch came from korg so this is in the 2nd batch in the UK so who know what is coming installed in the from of software as they come from the korg ??

Thing is I have since re read what was posted and it is relevant to styles not your problem
I did not try and transpose the RH parts but just made the 3 different sound patches?

I will later transpose them and see if I can mirror that issue, but you did say you were getting latency JUST changing the patches ?

Also when you say Transpose do you mean raising or lowering a sound in octaves or other intervals ????

Spoken to korg UK today and dealer, they are looking into this for me after are discussion this morning on the phone's, waiting for korg tec to call back later to run through some test my end (service test mode im guessing) I won't speculate what could be wrong from the phone call, not wanting to complicate the issue so will report back with the facts as they come, also iv been assured that if it is hardware fault or similar then a replacement unit will be arranged but as well know this now won't be until the next shipment next year (2016) 😭😭😭...to be continued

Re: Latency ... I think there is a one measure "latency" built into all factory style and variation changes . If you press a new style or variation on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd beat of a measure (for 4/4/ timing) the standard cue mode will hold off the change until the 1st beat of the 1st measure of the new style or variation. Otherwise you could have shortened measures. That includes all elements of the new variation, upper 1 2 3, Acc, Perc, Bass & Drums. If you press the change in style or variation on the 4th beat there should be minimum latency. I think! Wink You can change this by changing the cue mode and writing the edited style to your user area.
