Quote: | these are Noise canceling |
sorry to correct you, HD280Pro are note noise cancelling, they have not active noise cancelling technology. They are very closed so they have a great isolation.
They are very, very good pro headphones, only a minor drawback: they tend to be "shy" in the midbass region, which can be misleading in judging the "fullness" of your sound.
But for closed "not-so-expensive" headphone it's hard to find one better than the hd280 (maybe only the Sony MDR-7506) _________________ Kurzweil PC361

I was sure they where noise canceling ? Oh well I can tell you this i can plug them in my M3 and play away even when in my lounge and someone is blowing things up on the playstation running through the home theatre.. They do seem to eliminate a huge amount of outside noise while the volume is set low. I must of miss read some data sheet somewhere or maybe my memory is just getting old!

Yes, they do! It's for their great isolation from outside noise.

any thoughts about Sennheiser HD595 ? any kind of info is welcome...sound? are they comfortable etc.
Their impedance: 120 ohm... so do i need somekind of special headphone amp. to use them with my m3 (connected straight to the M3) and my computer with no special equipment (a regular creative 4 soundcard and logitech speakers (which should amplify the sound when connected throught them ?))

The HD595 now is 50 ohm of impedance, 120 ohm version is no longer produced.
It sounds very good and loud out of a keyboard headphones output. It's an open headphones so it's for home use. _________________ Kurzweil PC361

Ok, must ask a question here.
So i bought a brand new M3 and the sound is just amazing. So good that my old headphones has to be replaced.
Went to the musicstore today and tried out a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO. They were soft, felt good, nice smooth sound... but hey, we pumped the volume to MAX and that wasnt enough. Spec for the DT770 PRO is 250 ohm. Is that why the volume is getting to low?
In the M3 spec the impedance is 33 ohm in the headphone jack. Does that mean that i should find a pair of headphones that is 33 ohm ?
In what impedance-range would you say that i should look when i look for good headphones? |

Yes, in general headphones with lower impedance are louder.
You basically have two options:
a) using an amplifier (or mixer)
b) using headphones with lower impedance
Note that the DT 770 PRO is available with an impedance of 80 Ohm, too. |

Thanks orph... thats what i neede to hear.
Very good that the 700 also comes with lower impedance. Really liked the physical feeling with that headphone. Will take a look into the 80 ohm version.
What can we say about impedance? Is it better to find a headphone with exact matching impedance? |

Sony is BY FAR the BEST out of almost ANY pair you can find. Go try out a pair of MDR-V600's and see if those are loud enough for you.

How do they compare to AKG K240's? That's what I have now.

Cool, one other question though--do they handle bass well?
My AKG's are getting old and I really want something that will cover the frequency range well......and not be "flat." _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |

I disagree.
There is no objective ranking. But what I know is that you will find the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro and AKG 240 (or AKG 271) in most studios.
I have the DT770 Pro and can say, that your ears won't get tired even if you listen to it for a longer time. The sound is very linear and bass response is excellent. It's a closed system, so they are good for both monitoring and recording. |
