I really need to use Sonar as my sequencer with the PA4x.

I have connected it and can record upper and lower parts.

I can also have the lower part be the chord recognition channel to "drive" the style player in the PA4x.

BUT...a question.

When I press a Variation or Fill button on the PA4x, does it send a midi message that will be recorded in Sonar?

If not, I guess I would have to manually add these messages in Sonar as patch changes or something. That would be tedious.

I am going to guess that if the buttons do not send out on the midi out ports, then one should record a backing sequence and save the file to MID.

Then send that to the DAW and edit, cut, copy, paste and rearrange. Maybe change variations or fill messages around. Add other tracks that drive the PA4X sound engine.

Then copy the revised MID song back to the PA4x.

Glenn,

Yes, the Backing Sequence way is the correct one.

If you only need Message (marker), means only leave something on your DAW when you change Variation or other element, you can use some trick in your style. Wink
You can edit each element and add note on beginning of some track with 0 volume, for each element, but for each different note.
Then you not going to hear this note, but is going to be visible on DAW.
Is going to be your mark when you change element. Laughing
I am playing most time with DAW support and have to use tricks, wish I don't have to, but sometimes is better find solution on my own, that begging Korg to add some more feature.
They got full hands on fixing existing features.
