|

Please help me check my workflow for maintaining the songbook editor. I don't seem to quite understand the proper process.
The songbook manual states;
Before editing the SongBook database with SongBook Editor, you must create the relevant files in the internal memory of your instrument.
1 On the instrument, save the SongBook to the internal memory, by using the Media (Disk) > Save All operation. A new SET folder will be created, containing the Book (SBD) and Custom/Set List (SBL) files, together with all the other User data (including the User/Favorite Styles).
2 For safety reasons, before any editing operation we suggest you make a backup of the instrument’s memory content, by using the Media (Disk) > Utility > Full Resources Backup command.
I performed #1 on my keyboard by going to Media > Save > NEWSET and created a new set folder on the DISK. Is this correct? Is DISK the same as internal memory?
I then go into the Songbook editor and open this .SET folder and everything appears fine in the Songbook editor.
HOWEVER, when I edit the songbook entries, it does NOT update the songbook in the instrument as expected. It is only updating what I call the "Backup NEWSET" I just created.
How do I get the internal memory songbook updated from the Songbook editor correctly? What am I missing?
Thanks

Al, I'm by no means the resident expert, here's my 2 cents.
Yes the DISK is the internal memory.
When I used Songbook editor via my computer a few weeks ago, I was connected in Disk mode to the the internal disk of the Pa4x I loaded the file to Sonbook editor, saved the changes and when opening Songbook on the keyboard all my changes/deletions/additions were there. Not sure whether that helps or not? _________________ Pa4x-76, Yamaha CVP307, Genos, Yamaha sx900, Bose Compact, Maui LD5 |

Thanks Steve,
I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. The term "Internal memory" was throwing me, because I always assumed that to be RAM or ROM memory, not HD storage. Anyway, the step I was missing is; On the keyboard I was not going into media and pressing LOAD and re-loading the Songbook I just edited from the same folder as I was saving and editing on the computer. Once I did that step, all my changes made on the PC appeared on the keyboard.
Now that I have that working great, I have another question; I tried to create multiple songbook entries from MP3 files by doing the IMPORT option, but here's the problem if you have your MP3 files on the larger Hard Disk (HD) and your songbook and resources on the DISK, this cannot be done as you cannot reference one from the other when in USB mode. I would have to go into each entry in the songbook editor and edit the reference data to point to the correct location and that would defeat the whole purpose of doing a large import in the first place.
Thanks
