|
|
Hi. Newbie problems here I'm sure. On my SD card I have several rhythm sets. I want to load them into the user section. I go media/load and select SD. I find the set I want and select load. Sometimes this works but not always. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

What do you mean by "doesn't work sometimes"? What exactly happens?
Also,, if you want to load specific styles then OPEN the SET (not LOAD) and then OPEN STYLE folder and then you can selectively load styles or style banks and choose the destination.
Cheers

Sometimes the set will load, and sometimes it looks as though it is loading but the original set is still showing ... another words it didn't in fact load my set.
I am trying to be clever and transfer rhythms from the direct usb to spots on an existing set. Just had the thought how do I save the new set to my usb or sd from the user section? Because the set is loaded into the pa4x, and I add rhythms, How do I save the new set?
As I said, newbie problems ... having just enough knowledge to be very dangerous!!!

Hope I've got this right!! (Please correct me if not)
Scenario:-
You have a set happily loaded and want to add some styles to it then save it as a new SET.
Insert your USB with the SET(s) containing the additional styles you want.
Go into MEDIA mode and select the LOAD tab
Locate your USB drive from the pull-down list at bottom left of screen.
You should now see your USB SET(s)
Select a SET and press OPEN (not LOAD)
Then you'll see the contents of the selected SET
Scroll down to STYLE and press OPEN
You will now see the STYLE banks in that SET
You can decide now whether to load entire bank-at-a-time or go further and select individual STYLES.
So firstly, to load a complete BANK, select the bank (e.g. USER01.STY) and press LOAD
You can now choose the destination BANK location (so you could load this over USER03 bank if you wanted)
This will overwrite the entire destination bank.
OR
To select individual styles, select the bank (e.g. USER01.STY) and press OPEN (not LOAD!!)
You will now see all the individual styles in that bank
you can now select them one at a time and LOAD them so
select a STYLE you want and press LOAD
Now you choose exactly which bank and location in which to load it.
Repeat this for all the STYLEs you wish to load in
OK so now you have loaded all the extra STYLEs etc you want into the PA4X
Before going further it would be a good idea to SAVE everything in a NEW SET:-
Go into MEDIA mode and select the SAVE tab
Select "ALL" and press "Save to"
Now select the disk on which you want to save the new set from drop-down list bottom left of screen
Press "New Set"
Name the new set by pressing the "T" icon to the left of where it says the default name "NEWNAME"
You can now enter the new set name and press "OK"
Now press "OK again to save the SET
Now you have it completely backed up on disk.
The above process can be used for loading SOUNDs and SOUND banks etc if required
Hope this helps

THANKS Pete
I knew that of course, but hadn't thought of it!! saving the set etc,
I have been loading rhythms from the usb drive and have used 'save all ' before so that is easy!!
Any idea why when trying to load the set it sometimes won't load. I re-load the set several times and then it all works. I thought it must be me, but perhaps it is one of those 'pa4x' problems.
I am entering the Korg family from a Yamaha background, playing an EL900m organ as my main instrument. I have owned a music shop where I sold Yamaha, then taught keyboards for years, also mainly Yamaha. Now I'm a part time salesman for Korg, where I learnt how much I liked the pa300,600 & 900, so purchased the Pa4X ... and into the deep end I went. Love it, but still find it tricky to get the hang of.
Thanks again

Hi Warren
Well, a belated welcome to Korg PA world.
This PA4X does have a learning curve but well worth the effort - would recommend taking each MODE at a time.
E.G. just stick with STYLE play mode and thrash it then move on etc.
I am sure with your keyboard experience already you will steam well ahead of all that.
I cannot explain why your SET sometimes loads and other times doesn't - that really does not make sense.
Provided you are in the LOAD tab screen and actually select the SET on the USB drive and press LOAD it should load the complete SET.
Are these SETs you are loading from another Korg arranger or third party or...???
Anyhow, we're here to assist if you have any further questions...
Cheers

I think the sets are loading every time but, if in fav04 for example u have styles and in the set that u are loading there are nothing in fav04, then your original styles are still there. Its indicate to execute a "factory restore" before loading a new set. _________________ Korg pa1000 |
